Najwan Halimi
Najwan Halimi (Jawi alphabet, Jawi: نجوان حليمي; born 8 May 1985) is a Malaysian politician currently serving as a member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for Kota Anggerik (state constituency), Kota Anggerik. He is also the current Shah Alam Parti Keadilan Rakyat deputy chief and was former chief of Selangor Parti Keadilan Rakyat Youth wing. Najwan is one of the defence witness called by the Malaysian High Court in Anwar Ibrahim's Anwar Ibrahim sodomy trials#2008 allegation, second sodomy trial. He is also the designer of the flag Sang Saka Malaya that became controversial during the 55th anniversary of Malaysia's independence in 2012. Selangor State Legislative Assembly
The Selangor State Legislative Assembly ( ms, Dewan Negeri Selangor) is the unicameral state legislature of the Malaysian state of Selangor. Anwar Ibrahim Sodomy Trials
The Anwar Ibrahim sodomy trials are a source of considerable political controversy in Malaysia. The first trial was held in 1998, and resulted in former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim being convicted, and given a nine-year prison sentence. This verdict was overturned in 2004, resulting in Anwar's release from prison. While being the leader of the Pakatan Rakyat opposition, Anwar was charged in 2008 with sodomising a male aide. He was tried in 2010 and 2011 and, in January 2012, was acquitted. In March 2014, the acquittal was overturned by the Court of Appeal, which convicted him and imposed a sentence of five years' imprisonment. Anwar appealed to the Federal Court, which in February 2015 re-affirmed the conviction and sentence. 2018 Malaysian General Election
The 2018 Malaysian General Election, formally known as the 14th Malaysian General Election (), was held on Wednesday, 9 May 2018, for members of the 14th Parliament of Malaysia. At stake were all 222 seats in the Dewan Rakyat (the legislature's lower house) and 505 seats in 12 out of the 13 state legislative assemblies of Malaysia. Mohammad Saiful Bukhari Azlan (born 6 July 1985) is a Malaysian businessman and politician. He currently is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU). He was the personal assistant of former Malaysia Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim and also the accuser in Anwar's second sodomy trial. On 28 June 2008, he lodged a police report claiming that he had been forcibly sodomised by Anwar. When it was put to him that a 61-year-old man is unlikely to be able to physically overpower a 24-year-old man, he changed his complaint to "homosexual conduct by persuasion". Permatang Pauh is a town in Central Seberang Perai District, Penang, Malaysia. There are two institutions of higher learning located in Permatang Pauh, namely a campus of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Politeknik Seberang Perai at Bandar Perda. Permatang Pauh is beside the longest expressway in Malaysia, in Penang. It is located in the centre of Penang state, in the middle of the Bukit Mertajam and Kepala Batas. 2013 Malaysian General Election
General elections were held in Malaysia on Sunday, 5 May 2013 to elect the members of the 13th Parliament. Voting took place in all 222 parliamentary constituencies, each electing one MP to the Dewan Rakyat, the dominant house of Parliament. State elections also took place in 505 state constituencies in 12 of the 13 states (excluding Sarawak) on the same day. The elections were the first since Najib Razak became Prime Minister in 2009. The incumbent right-wing Barisan Nasional led by Najib won a second term against the opposition centre-left Pakatan Rakyat led by Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, after Barisan Nasional formed a majority government at a federal level.
