''Nahanni'' is a 1962 short documentary from the National Film Board of Canada directed by Donald Wilder, following Albert Faille, an elderly explorer and prospector, down the Nahanni River, in search of a legendary gold mine. The film is scripted by William Weintraub with a musical score by Eldon Rathburn. The 15th Canadian Film Awards were held on May 10, 1963 to honour achievements in Canadian film. This year saw a new record in film submissions: 175 productions from 44 producers, with the greatest increases in the TV Information and Travel and Recreation categories. Donald Wilder (October 23, 1926 - December 8, 2010) was a Canadian cinematographer and documentarian. He is most noted as a two-time Canadian Film Award winner for Best Cinematography, winning at the 15th Canadian Film Awards in 1963 for '' Nahanni'' and at the 25th Canadian Film Awards in 1973 for '' Paperback Hero'', and as the director of ''Nahanni'', which was also its years Canadian Film Award winner for Best Theatrical Short Film. A film score is original music written specifically to accompany a film.
