Nagui Asaad
Nagui Asaad Youssef (a.k.a. Nagy Assaad Youssef) ناجى أسعد, (born September 12, 1945), is a retired Egyptians, Egyptian athlete (track and field) who represented Egypt in international athletics events in the 1970s and early 1980s in shot put and discus throw. Biography Nagui Asaad was born on 12 September 1945 to a Copts, Coptic family in the north of Egypt. He moved to Cairo where he graduated from The Faculty of Sport (Physical) Education for Boys at Helwan University, following that he worked as a member of teaching staff in the same faculty after graduation. During his work he obtained a PhD Degree in Physical education, and he currently works as a professor in the same faculty. Nagui Asaad played in the Basketball team of Al Ahly (basketball), Al Ahly Sporting club between 1966 and 1969 then he joined the Athletic team at the same club and became the Egyptian champion in Shot Put. Al Ahly (basketball)
Al Ahly is an Egyptian basketball club, located in Cairo, Cairo Governorate, that plays in the Egypt Basketball Super League. Currently, two of its athletes play for the Egypt national basketball team. The team is part of the multi-sports club of the same name. The club has won six Egyptian Super League titles, eleven Egyptian Cup titles. Internationally, Al Ahly has won the FIBA Africa Champions Cup in 2016, and the Arabophone Championship in 2021. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. 1955 Mediterranean Games
The 1955 Mediterranean Games, officially known as the II Mediterranean Games, and commonly known as Barcelona 1955, were the 2nd Mediterranean Games. The Games were held in Barcelona, Spain over 10 days, from 15 to 25 July 1955, where 1,135 athletes (all men) from 10 countries participated. There were a total of 102 medal events from 19 different sports. In the medals table France was first on the podium, Italy second and Spain came third. This second edition were held in the Olympic Stadium and Palace of Sport of Barcelona. The stadium was built in 1929 and was especially renovated for the occasion. The symbol of an amphora filled with Mediterranean Sea water was then used for the first time. The African Championships in Athletics is a continental athletics event organized by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), the continental association for the sport in Africa. Since its inaugural edition in 1979 it was at first organised intermittently with nine editions held in fourteen years until 1993. The African Games, formally known as the All-Africa Games or the Pan African Games, are a continental multi-sport event held every four years, organized by the African Union (AU) with the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC). Omar Ahmed El Ghazaly
Omar Ahmed El Ghazaly (born 9 February 1984 in Cairo) is an Egyptian discus thrower. He originally played handball, while his siblings were on the Egyptian national swimming team. In 1999 he was recruited by former African shot put champion Nagui Asaad, who was setting up a throwing school that also included hammer thrower Mohsen El Anany and shot putter Yasser Fathy. After having a try with the different implements, he settled for the discus and rapidly made his debut in the national team. In 2000, aged 16, he was selected for the Egyptian team for the World Junior Championships, where he finished in 17th. That year he also won the Arab Championships with a throw of 53.07 m. At the 2002 World Junior Championships, a poor result of 10th was due to a shoulder injury. In 2003, his final year as a junior, he set a new junior world record of 65.88.
