Nagarkirtan
''Nagarkirtan'' (নগরকীর্তন) is a 2017 Indian Bengali film written and directed by Kaushik Ganguly. The film stars Riddhi Sen as Parimal, a trans woman from rural Bengal, and Ritwick Chakraborty as Madhu, a flute player from the Kirtaniya town of Nabadwip. At the 65th National Film Awards the film won four Awards including, Special Jury Award (Feature Film) and National Film Award for Best Actor for Riddhi Sen. Plot The movie starts with ''Puti'', born ''Parimal'' an intersex woman from the ghetto of eunuchs eloping with ''Madhu da'', a delivery boy of a Chinese restaurant who moonlights as a flautist in kirtans. The flashbacks give us an insight of Puti's childhood where her father is strictly against her dressing. Riddhi Sen
Riddhi Sen is an Indian film actor who predominantly works in Bengali films. He is a regular actor of the theatre group Swapnasandhani and is an alumnus of South Point school, Kolkata. In 2010, he received a special talent award from his school for his achievements in the field of theatre. He is the youngest actor in India to receive the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film '' Nagarkirtan''. In 2019, ''Film Companion'' ranked Sen's performance in '' Nagarkirtan'' among ''100 Greatest Performances of the decade.'' Ritwick Chakraborty is an Indian actor who works in Bengali cinema. He made his debut with Pagol Premi in 2007. He plays different roles in different sorts of movies, so he is a versatile actor in Bengali Film Industry. Career Chakraborty was associated with Bengali theatre from a very early age. Swapnamoy Chakraborty (born 24 August 1951) is a Bengali novelist and essayist. Career Chakraborty was born in Kolkata. He worked in the Land Department under the Government of West Bengal and Akashvani Kolkata as an executive director. He started his writing career with short stories. His first short story was published in 1972 in Amrita magazine. Chakraborty's first book ''Bhumi Sutra'' was published in 1982. His book ''Abantinagar'' won the Bankim Puraskar in 2005.
