Nafia Kuş
Nafia Kuş Aydın (born 20 February 1995) is a world and European champion Turkish people, Turkish female taekwondo practitioner competing in the heavyweight division. She won the gold medal in the 2023 World Taekwondo Championships – Women's heavyweight, women's heavyweight event at the 2023 World Taekwondo Championships held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Career Kuş is a native of Adana, Turkey. She has been performing taekwondo since age 8. Currently, Kuş is studying Physical Education and Sports at Çukurova University in Adana. In 2013, she obtained the silver medal at the Taekwondo at the 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games#Women's kyorugi, Islamic Solidarity Games held in Palembang, Indonesia. Kuş won the silver medal at the 2014 World University Taekwondo Championships in Hohhot, China. ''Taekwondo'', ''Tae Kwon Do'' or ''Taekwon-Do'' (; ko, 태권도/跆拳道 ) is a Korean martial arts, Korean form of martial arts involving punching and kicking techniques, with emphasis on head-height kicks, spinning jump kicks, and fast kicking techniques. The literal translation for tae kwon do is "kicking", "punching", and "the art or way of". They are a kind of martial arts in which one attacks or defends with hands and feet anytime or anywhere, with occasional use of weapons. The physical training undertaken in Taekwondo is purposeful and fosters strength of mind through mental armament. Taekwondo practitioners wear a uniform, known as a dobok. Islamic Solidarity Games
The Islamic Solidarity Games ( ar, ألعاب التضامن الإسلامي) is a multinational, multi-sport event. The Games involve the elite athletes of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation who compete in a variety of sports. The Solidarity Games were initially created to strengthen Islamic camaraderie and reinforce the values of Islam, primarily to the youth. The Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the organization that is responsible for the direction and control of the Islamic Solidarity Games. The ISSF strives to improve Islamic solidarity, promote Islamic identity in sports and help reduce discrimination toward Muslims. World Taekwondo Grand Prix
The World Taekwondo Grand Prix is a taekwondo competition introduced by the World Taekwondo Federation in 2013 to provide a homogeneous system for qualification to the Olympic taekwondo tournament. It consists of four competitions per year in each Olympic weight category event. Olympic events occur at approximately half the weight classes as WTF-organised tournaments. Venues The most common format of the event has been a series of three Grand Prix, followed by a Grand Final. The first Grand Prix in 2013, and the event in 2016, were single leg competitions, while the 2018 edition had a 4th Grand Prix leg before the Grand Final.
