Nader Mahdavi
Nader Mahdavi ( fa, نادر مهدوی) or Hossein Basria ( fa, حسین بسریا) was an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps naval commander who fought against United States naval forces and cruisers on 24 July 1987. Short biography Hossein Basria was born on 4 June 1963 in Nokar village, Dashti County, Bushehr Province. When he was in high school, economical issues and his political activities made him leave school and he started working in his father's store. After the Iranian revolution, he joined the Basij group. When Iran-Iraq war started, he wanted to go to battlefields but he was underage and was prevented from entering the war. On 20 April 1981, he was employed in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He married Sakineh Jokar in 1982. Ruhollah Khomeini, Ayatollah Khomeini, Imam Khomeini ( , ; ; 17 May 1900 – 3 June 1989) was an Iranian political and religious leader who served as the first supreme leader of Iran from 1979 until his death in 1989. Mohammad Ebrahim Hemmat
Mohammad Ebrahim Hemmat ( fa, محمدابراهیم همت, April 2, 1955 in Shahreza, Isfahan Province – March 7, 1984 in Majnoon Island, Iraq) was a teacher and an Iranian military leader. He was one of the highest ranking officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps during the Iran-Iraq War. In 1982, he spent a few months fighting against Israel during the 1982 Lebanon War. He then returned to Iran and held commanding roles in several missions during the Iran-Iraq War. He was killed in March 1984 in Operation Kheibar. Bridgton Incident
The ''Bridgeton'' incident was the naval mine, mining of the supertanker by Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC navy near Farsi Island in the Persian Gulf on July 24, 1987. The ship was sailing in the first convoy of Operation Earnest Will, the U.S. response to Kuwaiti requests to protect its tankers from attack amid the Iran–Iraq War. The explosion of an Iranian mine in the Gulf's shipping channel damaged ''Bridgeton'''s outer hull but did not prevent it from completing its voyage. Nevertheless, the incident was a propaganda victory for Iran. A naval mine is a self-contained explosive device placed in water to damage or destroy surface ships or submarines. Farsi Island ( fa, جزیره فارسی, translit=jazīreye fârsī) is a tiny, barren Iranian island ( Bushehr province) in the Persian Gulf. There is an IRGC Navy base on this island.
