Nadav Hanefeld
Nadav Henefeld ( Hebrew: נדב הנפלד; born June 19, 1968) is an Israeli former professional basketball player. During his playing career, he was a 2.00 m (6'6 ") tall power forward. Early career Henefeld was born in Ramat Hasharon, Israel, and he initially played pro basketball in his home country, for two seasons (1987–88, and 1988–89). He won a gold medal with Team Israel, and was voted MVP of the basketball competition, at the 1989 Maccabiah Games. College career Henefeld joined the University of Connecticut, and played with the Connecticut Huskies, in the 1989–90 "Dream Season", where he was selected as the Big East Conference Rookie of the Year, and set an all-time NCAA Division I freshman record, with 138 steals. Professional career Henefeld returned to Israel for the 1990–91 season, and played with Maccabi Tel Aviv for 12 years, until his retirement from basketball. Ramat HaSharon ( he, רָמַת הַשָּׁרוֹן, ''lit.'' 1989–90 Connecticut Huskies Men's Basketball Team
The 1989–90 Connecticut Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Connecticut in the 1989–90 collegiate men's basketball season. The Huskies completed the season with a 31–6 overall record. The Huskies were members of the Big East Conference where they finished with a 12–4 record. They made it to the Elite Eight in the 1990 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. Many consider this season the one where UConn broke out and became a national power, consistently being at the top of the conference in the 1990s and winning their first of five National Titles in 1999. The Israel men's national basketball team ( he, נבחרת ישראל בכדורסל) represents Israel in international basketball tournaments. They are administered by the Israeli Basketball Association. Israel is currently ranked 33rd in the FIBA World Rankings. Israel has qualified for the EuroBasket 30 times throughout their history. They have also made two appearances at the World Cup, and one at the Summer Olympics. Israel also participated at the Asian Games from 1966 to 1974. The 2000 FIBA EuroLeague Final Four was the FIBA EuroLeague Final Four tournament of the 1999–2000 season. It was the second to last edition of the FIBA EuroLeague Final Fours that were organized by FIBA Europe. For the next edition of the tournament, it would be replaced by the FIBA SuproLeague's 2001 FIBA SuproLeague Final Four, and the new Euroleague Basketball competition's 2001 Finals series, which was organized by the Euroleague Basketball Company. EuroLeague Final Four
The EuroLeague Final Four is the final four format championship of the European-wide top-tier level EuroLeague professional club basketball competition. The Euroleague Basketball Company used the final four format for the first time in 2002, following the 2001 FIBA SuproLeague Final Four, which was the last final four held by FIBA Europe. In the original FIBA Europe competition, as seen below, the final four was used for the first time at the 1966 FIBA European Champions Cup Final Four. The final four format was used again the next year, with the 1967 FIBA European Champions Cup Final Four, but was then abandoned. Steal (basketball)
In basketball, a steal occurs when a defensive player legally causes a turnover by their positive, aggressive action(s). This can be done by deflecting and controlling, or by catching the opponent's pass or dribble of an offensive player. The defender must not touch the offensive player's hands or otherwise a foul is called. Steals are credited to the defensive player who first causes the turnover, even if they do not end up with possession of the live ball. To earn a steal, the defensive player must be the initiator of the action causing the turnover, not just the benefactor. Whenever a steal is recorded by a defensive player, an offensive player must be credited as committing a turnover. Stealing the ball requires good anticipation, speed and fast reflexes, all common traits of good defenders.
