Nabat (film)
''Nabat'' ( az, Nabat) is a 2014 Azerbaijani drama film directed by Elchin Musaoglu. The story is set during an upsurge in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and revolves around an old, sick ex-forestry worker and his wife Nabat, whose son has died in battle. Plot Nabat and her ailing husband live in a small isolated house far from the nearest village but to which Nabat has to go every couple of days to sell milk from their only cow. As war approaches ever closer the village is slowly deserted and following her husband's death, Nabat is left all alone to fend for herself. Although the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have ordered the inhabitants to leave the village, she remains, and each evening lights lamps in some of the abandoned houses and village mosque, which dissuades the enemy forces from occupying it. Elchin Musaoglu
Elchin Musaoglu uliyev'' ( az, Elçin Musaoğlu uliyev}; born 11 July 1966, in Baku, Azerbaijan) is an Azerbaijani filmmaker best known for his award-winning movie ''The 40th Door'' and Oscar contender ''Nabat''. Musaoglu is a member of the Union of the Azerbaijan Cinematographers and the Union of Turkish Documentary Cinematographers, and a founder of the Society for Support of the Development of Documentary Films and Authorial Programs. Early life Although Musaoglu's father, Musa Guliyev, was a professor of historical sciences, Musaoglu spent his youth in the villages of Azerbaijan where he made theatrical performances with other youths often accepting fruit in lieu of payment. This is a list of submissions to the 87th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of a number of countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. It is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length film produced outside the United States with primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process, reviewing all films submitted. For the 87th Academy Awards, held on 22 February 2015, a submitted motion picture must be released theatrically in its respective country between 1 October 2013 and 30 September 2014.
