NYTC
The National Youth Theatre Formerly known as the National Youth Theatre Company is a not-for-profit organization that runs musical theatre training workshops and musical productions in New Zealand. It was established in 2005, with the aim of providing opportunities for young people to participate in performing arts training. The company provides training strictly to New Zealand youth, between ages 7 and 21, and each show has multiple casts, enabling more young people to perform on stage. Dorothy Winstone
Dame Dorothy Gertrude Winstone (née Fowler, 23 January 1919 – 3 April 2014) was a New Zealand educationist and academic. She sat on the Royal Commission on Contraception, Sterilisation and Abortion which ran from 1975 to 1977. The Dorothy Winstone Centre Theatre at the Auckland Girls' Grammar School in Auckland, New Zealand is named in her honour. The theatre was built in 1988 and designed by architect Ivan Mercep. Winstone was appointed a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George, for public services, in the 1977 New Year Honours. In the 1990 Queen's Birthday Honours, she was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire, for services to the community. ''Shrek The Musical'' is a musical with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. It is based on the 2001 DreamWorks Animation film ''Shrek'', along with elements of its sequels: ''Shrek 2'', ''Shrek Forever After'' and William Steig's 1990 book ''Shrek!''. After a trial run in Seattle, the original Broadway production opened in December 2008 and closed after a run of over 12 months in January 2010. ''Cats'' is a sung-through musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based upon the 1939 poetry collection ''Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats'' by T. S. Eliot. It tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make the "Jellicle choice" by deciding which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life. ''Disney's My Son Pinocchio: Geppetto's Musical Tale'' is a musical based on Disney's 2000 made-for-television movie ''Geppetto'', which was in turn based on a book by David Stern, and features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz.
