NXT Women's Championship
The NXT Women's Championship is a women's professional wrestling championship created and promoted by the American promotion WWE. It is defended on the NXT brand division, the promotion's developmental territory. Introduced on April 5, 2013, the inaugural champion was Paige. The current champion is Roxanne Perez, who is in her first reign. At the time the title was established, NXT was a developmental territory for WWE. In September 2019, the promotion began promoting NXT as its "third brand" when the ''NXT'' television program was moved to the USA Network. Two years later, however, NXT reverted to its original function as WWE's developmental brand. In 2020, the NXT Women's Championship became the first and so far only NXT championship to be selected by a Royal Rumble match winner, and subsequently, it became the first and so far only NXT championship to be defended at a WrestleMania at WrestleMania 36. Carla Gonzalez (born November 5, 2001) is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE where she performs on the NXT brand under the ring name Roxanne Perez, where she is the current NXT Women's Champion in her first reign. She is a former NXT Women's Tag Team Champion. She is also known for her time with Ring of Honor where she was the inaugural ROH Women's World Champion under the ring name Rok-C. On various occasions in professional wrestling, a single-elimination tournament of varying match types are held, often to determine a championship or number-one contendership therein. It has been known for promotions to use title tournament that are fictitious in nature (that is, the title may have been simply awarded under the pretext of winning a tournament elsewhere) - notable ones include the tournaments that established the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and the WWE United States Championship (the latter when it was the NWA United States Championship). A single-elimination, knockout, or sudden death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of each match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. Each winner will play another in the next round, until the final match-up, whose winner becomes the tournament champion. The NXT UK Women's Championship was a women's professional wrestling championship that was created and promoted by the American promotion WWE.
