The ''NIN'' Award ( sr, Ninova nagrada, italics=yes, Нинова награда), officially the Award for Best Novel of the Year, is a prestigious Serbian (and previously Yugoslavian) literary award established in 1954 by the ''NIN'' weekly and is given annually for the best newly published novel written in Serbian (previously in Serbo-Croatian).B92''Grozdani Olujić NIN-ova nagrada'' (NIN Prize to Grozdana Olujić) 15 Jan 2010 The award is presented every year in January by a panel of writers and critics. NIN (magazine)
''NIN'' ( sr-cyr, НИН) is a weekly conservative news magazine published in Belgrade, Serbia. Its name is an acronym for ''Nedeljne informativne novine'' (Недељне информативне новине) which roughly translates into ''Weekly Informational Newspaper''. Though a current events magazine in its essence, ''NIN'' also earned an esteemed reputation due to a long tradition of opening its pages to the best and the brightest within Serbian, and previously Yugoslav society, whether in arts, sciences, or even sports. This reputation has recently somewhat been tarnished as the magazine was forced into commercial competition with numerous political periodicals that sprung up in Serbia after the dissolution of Yugoslavia. Vladan Matijević ( Serbian-Cyrillic: Владан Матијевић; born 16 November 1962 in Čačak, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Serbian writer and poet. Life and Work Vladan Matijević worked for eighteen years as an engineer in a chemical base factory after completing his university education. Since 2005, he has been working as directing editor of the publications of the ''Nadežda Petrović Gallery'' in his native town, where he still lives in a suburb today. Uglješa Šajtinac (Serbian Cyrillic: Угљеша Шајтинац; born 1 October 1971 in Zrenjanin, Yugoslavia) is a Serbian writer and playwright. Biography Šajtinac grew up in an artistic parents home, his mother Mirjana is an actress, his father is the poet, writer and playwright Radivoj Šajtinac, he studied Dramaturgy at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts of Belgrade’s University of Arts and graduated in 1999. He worked as a dramaturge at the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad from 2003 to 2005, then he became professor of dramaturgy at the Academy of Arts of the University of Novi Sad. Goran Petrović () (born 1961 in Kraljevo, Serbia) is a Serbian writer and academic. Biography Goran Petrović studied Yugoslav and Serbian literature at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philology. He received the most prominent award in Serbian literature, the NIN Award, in 2000, for his novel ''Ситничарница „Код срећне руке"''. Currently he works and lives in Belgrade.
