NHV Eredivisie
The Nederlandse Handbal Eredivisie is the top Netherlands, Dutch professional Team handball, handball league. The winners of the Eredivisie are recognised as the Dutch handball champions. Competition Format In the first phase of the season, the top 6 teams of the previous season participate in the BeNe League, BENE-League competition. They are joined by the top 6 teams from Belgium. At the same time, the remaining 12 teams, participate in a national competition. In the second phase, the 4 best ranking Dutch teams of the BENE-League, who automatically qualified for next season's BENE-League, compete in a 2-round system for the national title. The first round is a full competition among those 4. In the second round the 2 teams which ended on top, decide in a best-of-three who wins the title. Limburg Lions
Limburg Lions is a handball team from Sittard-Geleen, Limburg. The club was founded in 2008 by a merger of the men's teams of HV Sittardia from Sittard, V&L from Geleen and HV BFC from Beek. The Lions took the place of HV Sittardia in the NHV Eredivisie after the merger. The first team plays its home games at Stadssporthal ( Sittard). Limburg Lions also has a second team, which plays in the Dutch premier division, and an A-youth team, which plays in the national A-youth division. The first team won the national championship and the Cup of the Netherlands three years in a row between 2015 and 2017. It has also won twice the Dutch Supercup and once the BENE League. Feyenoord Rotterdam () is a Dutch professional association football club based in Rotterdam, which plays in the Eredivisie, the top tier in Dutch football. Emmen () is a municipality and town of the province of Drenthe in the northeastern Netherlands. History A planned city, Emmen arose from several small farming and peat-harvesting communities which have dotted the province of Drenthe since the Middle Ages. Beek (; li, Baek ) is a town and municipality in the southeastern Netherlands, in the province of Limburg. As of 2012, Beek has a population of about 16,400, of which about 8,800 live in the town of Beek. Beekse Fusie Club
BFC is a handball club from Beek, Limburg. The club was founded in 1998 by a merger of HV Blauw-Wit from Neerbeek and HV Caesar from Beek. Since its foundation in 1998, neither the men's nor the woman's team won the championship or the national cup. The women's team was able to reach the finals of the national cup in 2006 but lost to Quintus. Because the team reached the finals of the national cup, they were allowed to enter the EHF Cup Winners' Cup, but were knocked out of the tournament after the first round. In 2008, BFC co-operated with V&L and HV Sittardia to form a stronger men's team. The project was called ''Tophandbal Zuid-Limburg'' and two new teams were formed: Limburg Lions and Limburg Wild Dogs (later turned into the second team of Limburg Lions). In 2016, the management of BFC decided to take no longer part in the collaboration.
