NHL First Timer
''NHL First Timer'' is a web series created by Pasha Eshghi and Paul Bissonnette in collaboration with the NHL. The series is hosted by Bissonnette, who takes people from all walks of life to their first NHL games with the goal of converting them into hockey fans. The series is part of a new initiative by the NHL which aims to tap into the Generation Z demographic by creating digital content in-house that is catered to social media needs. The first season of the series is slated for 5 episodes. The first episode of the series features the NFL's Jalen Ramsey. The episode caught the attention of the public as it was released shortly after Ramsey's controversial comments where he claimed he could play in the NHL with only six months of training. The third episode saw Bissonnette and the NBA's Robin Lopez team up with the Salvation Army to bring two underprivileged teens to the NHL Winter Classic. Pasha Eshghi
Pasha Eshghi (born December 15, 1992) is a Canadian filmmaker. He is known for co-creating both BizNasty Does BC and NHL First Timer, as well as for his work producing content for the Barstool Sports hockey podcast, Spittin' Chiclets. Biography Pasha Eshghi was born in Vancouver, BC. He attended Collingwood School for 12 years before attending The University of British Columbia where he graduated from the Film Production program in 2015. He is an avid New Jersey Devils fan. Filmography In 2015, as he was finishing up his last semester in film school, Eshghi produced & directed SWERVE, an action/comedy web series about a limo driver and his adventures with his passengers. The series comprised six episodes and starred Alexander Ludwig. Eshghi cites the production of SWERVE, and more specifically, the challenges he faced trying to secure distribution for it, as a pivotal learning experience in his early career. Paul Bissonnette
Paul Albert Bissonnette (born March 11, 1985), nicknamed "Biz Nasty", is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Phoenix Coyotes. Bissonnette is currently a studio analyst for NHL on TNT, the color analyst for the Arizona Coyotes radio and a co-host along side former NHL defenseman Ryan Whitney on the Barstool Sports hockey podcast ''Spittin' Chiclets''. A web series (also known as a web show) is a series of scripted or non-scripted online videos, generally in episodic form, released on the Internet, which first emerged in the late 1990s and became more prominent in the early 2000s. A single instance of a web series program can be called an episode or a "webisode", however the term is not always used. In general, web series can be watched on a range of platforms and devices, including desktop, laptop, tablets and smartphones. Jalen Lattrel Ramsey (born October 24, 1994) is an American football cornerback for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Florida State Seminoles football, Florida State and was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars fifth overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. With the Jaguars, Ramsey quickly became one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, making the Pro Bowl twice and being named an All-Pro in 2017, in addition to helping Jacksonville snap a 10-year playoff drought. Robin Byron Lopez (born April 1, 1988) is an American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The NHL Winter Classic (french: La Classique hivernale de la LNH) is an annual regular season outdoor ice hockey game played in the National Hockey League (NHL) on or around New Year's Day, generally in a football or baseball stadium in an area with a resident NHL team. The Winter Classic is distinct from the league's two other series of outdoor games, the NHL Heritage Classic and the NHL Stadium Series. Jay Michael DeMerit (born December 4, 1979) is an American retired soccer player who played as a center back. He played college soccer for the UIC Flames and was in the Chicago Fire Premier development squad, but after not being drafted for Major League Soccer, he moved to look for a club in England. He played for non-league sides Southall and Northwood before signing for Watford of the Championship in 2004. DeMerit played 211 total games for Watford over six seasons, including one in the 2006–07 Premier League, having scored in their victory in the 2006 Football League Championship play-off Final.
