The seventeenth season of ''NCIS'', an American police procedural drama television series, originally aired on CBS from September 24, 2019 through April 14, 2020. The season was produced by Belisarius Productions and CBS Television Studios. ''NCIS'' revolves around a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which conducts criminal investigations involving the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. In May 2020, CBS renewed the series for an eighteenth season. Mark Harmon
Thomas Mark Harmon (born September 2, 1951) is an American actor. He is most famous for playing the lead role of Leroy Jethro Gibbs in '' NCIS''. He also appeared in a wide variety of roles since the early 1970s. After spending the majority of the 1990s as a character actor, he played Secret Service special agent Simon Donovan in a four-episode story arc in ''The West Wing'' in 2002, receiving an Emmy Award nomination for the role. Harmon's character of NCIS special agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs was introduced in a guest starring role in two episodes of '' JAG''.
