NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship
The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship, played in late May or early June, is the top annual competition in U.S. men's collegiate golf. The teams that win their respective Division I conference championships are given automatic spots in the regionals. A selection committee decides which other teams play in the regionals. The top teams in each regional advance to the championship. In addition, the best player in each tournament from teams not qualified also advance to the next round as individual competitors. It is a stroke play team competition; starting in 2009, the competition changed to a stroke play/match play competition with the top eight teams after 54 holes of stroke play being seeded and concluding with an eight-team match play playoff. An award is also given for the lowest-scoring individual competitor. Percy Rivington Pyne 2nd (June 23, 1882 – August 15, 1950) was a banker, financier, and philanthropist. He founded the stock exchange firm of Pyne, Kendall Hollister. Early life He was born on June 23, 1882, in New York City, the son of Moses Taylor Pyne (1855–1921) and Anna Margaretta Stockton. His father inherited much of the Moses Taylor family fortune and was a major benefactor of Princeton University. His mother was a direct descendant of Richard Stockton, signer of the Declaration of Independence. Pyne prepared for college at St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire. The Garden City Golf Club is a private golf course in Garden City, New York. The club was founded in 1899, and is also known as the "Garden City Men's Club" or simply the "Men's Club" to distinguish it from the Garden City Country Club, and Cherry Valley Club, all of which are located in Garden City, NY. The Harvard Crimson are the intercollegiate athletic teams of Harvard College. The school's teams compete in NCAA Division I.
