This is a list of the NCAA Men's Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, NCAA indoor champions in the short sprint event. Generally that was the 60 yard dash until 1983, 55 meter dash 1984 to 1999, and the 60 meters being contested thereafter. NCAA Men's Division I Indoor Track And Field Championships
The NCAA Men's Division I Indoor Track and Field Championship is an annual collegiate indoor track and field competition for men organised by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Athlete's individual performances earn points for their institution and the team with the most points receives the NCAA team title in track and field. A separate NCAA Division I women's competition is also held. Carl Lewis
Frederick Carlton Lewis (born July 1, 1961) is an American former track and field athlete who won nine Olympic gold medals, one Olympic silver medal, and 10 World Championships medals, including eight gold. His career spanned from 1979 to 1996, when he last won an Olympic event. He is one of only six Olympic athletes who won a gold medal in the same individual event in four consecutive Olympic Games. Ja'Warren Hooker
Ja'Warren Hooker (born September 24, 1978) is a track and field sprinter and former University of Washington football player. Hooker, one of seven children, was born in Chigago, and played halfback for Ellensburg High School. His high school football career record achieved 57 touchdowns totalling a didtance over 5,100 yards. Hooker also played basketball for his high school, with an accuracy of 40% at the 3 point range. Bryan Howard (athlete)
Bryan Howard (born October 7, 1976) is an American former sprinter. Howard ran for Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley, California. He was the 1993 CIF California State Meet champion in the 100 meters. He was unable to repeat in 1994 due to a false start. Earlier in the season, he had used his fast start to set the National High School Record of 5.69 in the 50 meters at the Sunkist Invitational. That record still stands. The year before, it was announced he had also broken the record, formerly held by Bill Green since 1979. However Paul Turner of University City High in San Diego was later ruled to be the winner and recordholder, which lasted exactly one year. Tim Harden
Timothy M. Harden (born January 27, 1974) is an American former athlete who competed mainly in the 100 metres. Harden was born in Kansas City, Missouri, where he graduated from Northeast High School in 1992. He also attended the University of Kentucky. He is also the 2001 indoor world champion and 1999 world indoor silver medallist behind Maurice Greene. He competed for the United States in the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, United States in the 4 × 100 metre relay where he won the silver medal with his teammates Jon Drummond, Michael Marsh and Dennis Mitchell. Michael Green (born 7 November 1970) is a retired Jamaican sprinter who specialized in the 100 metres. Michael Green was born in Trelawny. He attended William Knibb Memorial High and graduated in May 1989 where he dominated the 100m. Green's nickname at William Knibb was 'Roach'. After graduating from William Knibb as the fastest male in 1989, Green was awarded a scholarship to attend Clemson University. Andre Cason (born January 20, 1969) is an American former track and field sprinter. He was a member of the American 4 × 100 meters relay team that won the gold medal at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo with a world record time of 37.50 seconds. A few weeks after this event Cason, ran his first sub-10-second 100 meters race when winning in Koblenz in 9.99 seconds. Cason attended Texas A&M University, where he was a two-time NCAA champion, and seven-time All-American for the Aggies. The 1992 season started well for Cason as he set the world indoor record for the 60 meters on three occasions, leaving a standing world record of 6.41, and equalled the world indoor record for the 50 meters with a time of 5.62. Raymond Douglas Stewart (born 18 March 1965 in Kingston, Jamaica) is a former Jamaican athlete who specialised in the 100 metres event. As a junior athlete Stewart found much success at the CARIFTA Games, winning five gold medals within a four-year period. In 1984 he reached the 100 m Olympic final and won an Olympic silver medal for the 4×100 metres relay. At the 1987 World Championships he took silver in the 100 m and bronze with the Jamaican relay team. A leg injury in the 1988 Olympic final of the 100 m ruined his medal chances in both the individual and relay events. Lee McRae (born January 23, 1966) is a retired track and field athlete from the United States who won the gold medal in the men's 100 metres at the 1987 Pan American Games. Samuel Louis Graddy III (born February 10, 1964) is an American former athlete and American football player, winner of gold medal in 4 × 100 m relay at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
