This is a list of the NCAA Men's Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, NCAA indoor champions in a long sprint event. Generally that was the 440 yard dash until 1983, and the 400 meters being contested thereafter. The event was not held in 1986 and 1987. NCAA Men's Division I Indoor Track And Field Championships
The NCAA Men's Division I Indoor Track and Field Championship is an annual collegiate indoor track and field competition for men organised by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Athlete's individual performances earn points for their institution and the team with the most points receives the NCAA team title in track and field. A separate NCAA Division I women's competition is also held. Anthony Ketchum
Anthony Raye Ketchum (born November 20, 1962) is an American former sprinter. He attended Needville High School in Texas and in 1981 set a state high school record for the 400-meter dash, with a time of 45.64 seconds. He was highly successful at school level, winning four straight titles in the 440-yard dash/400-meter dash from 1978 to 1981 at the UIL Texas State Track and Field Championships (the second man to do so after Kenneth Thomas of Wortham). He was the number one ranked high school athlete in the discipline in 1981 according to ''Track and Field News''. Ketchum placed fifth nationally in the 400 m at the 1981 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and also fourth at the AAA Championships in the United Kingdom. Davian Clarke (born 30 April 1976) is a Jamaican former athlete, who mainly competed in the 400 metres. He won the bronze medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the 1996 Olympics, and many relay medals followed, before he won his first individual medal at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships. Gregory Haughton (born 10 November 1973) is a Jamaican 400 metres runner. He won three Olympic medals, one at the 1996 Summer Olympics and two at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Calvin Davis (born April 2, 1972 in Eutaw, Alabama) is a former American athlete who competed mainly in the 400 meters, though his fame comes from his success in the 400 meter hurdles. Davis ran for the United States at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States where he won the bronze medal in the men's 400 meter hurdles event. Davis competed collegiately for the University of Arkansas, primarily as a flat 400 meter sprinter, not learning the hurdles until later. He won the NCAA Indoor 400 meter title in 1993 and 1994. Deon Minor (born January 22, 1973) is an American former track and field athlete who specialized in the 400 meter dash. He won two consecutive gold medals in the relay at the IAAF World Indoor Championships from 1997 to 1999, setting a world record mark of 3:02.83 minutes in the latter competition.
