The NATO Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan represents the political leadership of the NATO Alliance in Kabul, Afghanistan. The Senior Civilian Representative carries forward the Alliance's political-military objectives in Afghanistan, liaising with the Afghan Government, civil society, representatives of the international community and neighbouring countries. The position was created in 2003. Hikmet Çetin (born 1937) is a Turkish politician of Kurdish origin former minister of foreign affairs and was leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP) for a short time. He served also as the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Early life He was born in Lice, a town in the southeastern Diyarbakır Province. Fernando Gentilini (born 2 March 1962) is an Italian diplomat. Early life Gentilini was born in Subiaco, Italy in 1962. He graduated as a lawyer from the University of Rome in 1986. Diplomatic career In 1990 Gentilini joined the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He served as Secretary at the Italian Embassy in Addis Ababa from July 1992 to December 1996. Mark Philip Sedwill, Baron Sedwill, (born 21 October 1964) is a British diplomat and senior civil servant who served as Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Home Civil Service to Prime Ministers Theresa May and Boris Johnson from 2018 to 2020.
