Nyasha Mayavo
Nyasha Mayavo (born 1 October 1992) is a Zimbabwean first-class cricketer who plays for Mid West Rhinos. He was the leading run-scorer in the 2017–18 Logan Cup for Mid West Rhinos, with 550 runs in seven matches. In June 2018, he was named in a Board XI team for warm-up fixtures ahead of the 2018 Zimbabwe Tri-Nation Series. In December 2020, he was selected to play for the Rhinos in the 2020–21 Logan Cup. In May 2023, he was named in Zimbabwe A's squad for their first class match series against Pakistan A. Bulawayo
Bulawayo (, ; Ndebele: ''Bulawayo'') is the second largest city in Zimbabwe, and the largest city in the country's Matabeleland region. The city's population is disputed; the 2022 census listed it at 665,940, while the Bulawayo City Council claimed it to be about 1.2 million. Bulawayo covers an area of about in the western part of the country, along the Matsheumhlope River. Along with the capital Harare, Bulawayo is one of two cities in Zimbabwe that is also a province. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Mid West Rhinos
The Mid West Rhinos is one of the four cricket Zimbabwean cricket franchises. They are a first-class cricket team, based in Midlands Province and the Mashonaland West area. They play their home matches at Kwekwe Sports Club in Kwekwe. History In 2009, Zimbabwe Cricket announced a major restructure of domestic cricket in Zimbabwe and the traditional provincial sides were replaced with regional franchises. Midlands was renamed Mid West Rhinos and based in the mining town of Kwekwe. With the new franchise system in place the season got under way on 14 September 2009. Current captain Vusimuzi Sibanda was the first person to score a hundred under the new 'Mid West Rhinos' name as they convincingly beat the newly titled Matabeleland Tuskers by 135 runs. 2017–18 Logan Cup
The 2017–18 Logan Cup was the 24th edition of the Logan Cup, a first-class cricket competition that took place in Zimbabwe. It started on 4 October 2017 and included a new team, the Rising Stars, along with the existing four teams. Mountaineers were the defending champions. In December 2017, Zimbabwe Cricket postponed all the remaining fixtures scheduled to take place in the tournament. Zimbabwe Cricket were struggling to pay players' salaries for November and December and wanted to upgrade their facilities for the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier, which took place in Zimbabwe in March 2018. Initially, the tournament did not resume after the Cricket World Cup Qualifier, with the final three rounds not being played. However, in April 2018, Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed that the tournament would restart, with the remaining rounds of the competition played during April and May 2018. 2018 Zimbabwe Tri-Nation Series
The 2018 Zimbabwe Tri-Nation Series was a cricket tournament held from 1 to 8 July 2018 in Zimbabwe. It was a tri-nation series between Australia, Pakistan and Zimbabwe, with all the matches played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) at the Harare Sports Club. In the fourth T20I, Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by seven wickets, therefore Australia and Pakistan qualified for the final. Pakistan defeated Australia in the final by six wickets to win the series. Originally, the tour was just going to feature Australia and Zimbabwe, with the two teams playing two Tests and three One Day Internationals (ODIs). In June 2018, the Zimbabwe team threatened to boycott the tour in a dispute over outstanding money that has not been paid to players. 2020–21 Logan Cup
The 2020–21 Logan Cup was the 27th edition of the Logan Cup, a first-class cricket competition in Zimbabwe, which started on 9 December 2020. After originally scheduled to start on 3 December 2020, the tournament was moved back a week to allow time to setup a bio-secure bubble. Five teams took part in the competition, including the Southern Rocks, who last played in the 2013–14 tournament. There was no defending champion, after the previous tournament was voided due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Four matches were played during December 2020. However, on 3 January 2021, Zimbabwe Cricket halted all cricket in the country following a rise in COVID-19 cases. In mid-March 2021, it was reported that the tournament would resume later that month, with the next round of matches starting on 18 March 2021. Pakistan A Cricket Team In Zimbabwe In 2023
The Pakistan A cricket team toured Zimbabwe in May 2023 to play two first-class matches against the Zimbabwe A cricket team and six List A matches against the Zimbabwe national cricket team. In April 2023, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) confirmed the fixtures for the tour, with the matches taking place at Kwekwe, Mutare and Harare.
