Nuno Luís Costa Santos (born 20 April 1973) is a Portuguese retired professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper, currently a goalkeeping coach. Playing career Born in Setúbal, Santos made his professional debut with his hometown club Vitória FC, also serving two loans with lowly teams (Caldas S.C. and CD Operário). His performances in the 1997–98 campaign attracted the attention of Leeds United, but he made no official appearances whatsoever for the Premier League side, returning to his country with S.L. Benfica. During his stint in Lisbon, Santos was almost always only third choice, and went on to also serve several loans, including in Spain's CD Badajoz, playing no games in the Segunda División during his four-month spell. Released by Benfica in June 2004 after a season-long loan spell at Vitória, he stabilised at C.D. The 2003–04 Primeira Liga was the 70th edition of top flight of Portuguese football. It started 16 August 2003 with an opening game between Académica de Coimbra and Sporting Clube de Portugal, and ended on 9 May 2004. It was contested by 18 teams. FC Porto were the defending champions and became champions again, winning the Portuguese title in two consecutive seasons. The Segunda Divisão Portuguesa (English language, English: ''Portuguese Second Division'') was a association football, football league situated at the third level of the Portuguese football league system.
