Novena
A novena (from Latin: ''novem'', "nine") is an ancient tradition of devotional praying in Christianity, consisting of private or public prayers repeated for nine successive days or weeks. The nine days between the Feast of the Ascension and Pentecost, when the disciples gathered in the upper room and devoted themselves to prayer, is often considered to be the first novena. In some Christian communities, such as in Africa, Latin America and the Philippines, novena traditions are popular and include devotional rituals such as congregational prayers, the decoration of statues, hymn singing with music, as well as community fiesta events over beverages, refreshments or processions. Novenas are most often prayed by members of the Roman Catholic Church, but also by Lutherans, Anglicans, and Eastern Orthodox Christians; they have been used in ecumenical Christian settings as well. The prayers are often derived from devotional prayer books, or consist of the recitation of the rosary (a ...

Chaplet Of Saint Michael
The Chaplet of Saint Michael the Archangel, also called the Rosary of the Angels, is a chaplet approved by Pope Pius IX in 1851. Antónia d'Astónaco Although some 19th- and 20th-century sources state that the chaplet started with Antónia de Astónaco or d'Astonac, wrongly reported as a Portuguese Carmelite nun who allegedly had a private revelation by Saint Michael the Archangel in 1750, it has been shown that the chaplet originated before the eighteenth century as a private devotion, originally rejected by the Church. Furthermore, it has been shown that there are no records referring to an Antónia d'Astónaco in the Carmelite archives or the Vatican archives, and the name is not Portuguese. Antónia d'Astónaco is first mentioned as a hypothetical source in an early nineteenth-century publication, and it is likely that she never existed. Chaplet The prayers are generally prayed with a chaplet, counting the prayers with it as one would do with a rosary. For those who would re ...

Sounds True
In physics, sound is a vibration that propagates as an acoustic wave, through a transmission medium such as a gas, liquid or solid. In human physiology and psychology, sound is the ''reception'' of such waves and their ''perception'' by the brain. Only acoustic waves that have frequencies lying between about 20 Hz and 20 kHz, the audio frequency range, elicit an auditory percept in humans. In air at atmospheric pressure, these represent sound waves with wavelengths of to . Sound waves above 20 kHz are known as ultrasound and are not audible to humans. Sound waves below 20 Hz are known as infrasound. Different animal species have varying hearing ranges. Acoustics Acoustics is the interdisciplinary science that deals with the study of mechanical waves in gasses, liquids, and solids including vibration, sound, ultrasound, and infrasound.
