Notre-Dame-de-l'ÃŽle-Perrot
Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot is the largest of four municipalities located on Île Perrot, west of the island of Montreal, Quebec. The population as of the Canada 2016 Census was 10,654. It hosts the island's first church built in 1740 originally situated at Pointe-du-Moulin which was reconstituted as the Chapelle du Souvenir in 1953 beside the church of Sainte-Jeanne-de-Chantal across from the town hall. History The island was granted as a seigneury on October 29, 1672, to François-Marie Perrot (1644-1691), captain in the Picardy Regiment and governor of Montreal in 1670. In 1949, the Parish Municipality of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot was formed out of the Parish Municipality of L'Île-Perrot. A year later, it lost part of its territory when the Village Municipality of Pincourt was created. Île Perrot () is an island west of the island of Montreal in the Canadian province of Quebec. Part of the Hochelaga Archipelago, the island lies between Lake Saint-Louis and Lac des Deux-Montagnes. The island was granted by the Intendant Talon of New France to its founder François-Marie Perrot then Governor of Montreal on 28 October 1672. Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional County Municipality
Vaudreuil-Soulanges () is a regional county municipality in Quebec, Canada. It is located on a triangular peninsula in the western Montérégie region of Quebec, formed by the confluence of the Ottawa River to the north, and the St. Lawrence River to the south. Ontario is located west of here. Geography Vaudreuil-Soulanges is part of the St Lawrence Valley. Two million years ago the region was subject to a series of glaciations that covered much of North America. The last in the series was the Wisconsin glaciation. The ice sheet weighed down the landscape. This created the depressions in the land that created the basins for Lake Saint-Louis, Lac des Deux-Montagnes and Lake Saint-Francis. Vaudreuil (provincial Electoral District)
Vaudreuil is a provincial electoral district in the Mont̩r̩gie region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The biggest municipality in the district is Vaudreuil-Dorion. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Its final election was in 1936. It disappeared in the 1939 election and its successor electoral district was Vaudreuil-Soulanges. ''Sainte-Jeanne-de-Chantal'' is a Catholic church on the Île Perrot to the west of the island of Montreal in the Canadian province of Quebec. Built in 1773–74, it is one of the oldest surviving rural churches in North America. Location The church is located on a promontory of the Île Perrot, on a bluff overlooking the Saint Lawrence River, known as the Cataraqui River by the original inhabitants. It lies in the municipality of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, and faces the town of Beauharnois to the south. The bell tower serves as a navigation aid. It is one of the ten oldest rural religious foundations in North America. François-Marie Perrot
François-Marie Perrot (; 1644 – 1691) was born in Paris and Seigneur de Sainte-Geneviève. Biography He was appointed governor of Montreal by a royal commission in 1670 and arrived in New France that year. Records do show his tenure as 1669–84. In 1669 he married Madeleine Laguide Meynier, a niece of Jean Talon, and by her he had six children. Through Talon's influence he obtained the appointment as governor of Montreal from the seigneurs of the island, the Messieurs de Saint-Sulpice, succeeding Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve. 2021 Canadian Census
The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016. Planning Consultation on census program content was from September 11 to December 8, 2017. The census was conducted by Statistics Canada, and was contactless as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. The agency had considered delaying the census until 2022. About 900 supervisors and 31,000 field enumerators were hired to conduct the door-to-door survey of individuals and households who had not completed the census questionnaire by late May or early June.
