Norwegian Railway Carriages
There are three basic types of Norwegian railway carriage used commonly by NSB on the Norwegian railway system, the Class 3, Class 5 and Class 7 series. As of 2005, the carriages are hauled by NSB El 18 engines on the main electrified stretches and NSB Di 4 engines on non-electrified lines. Coding In general the preceding letter of the carriage type indicates what the carriage is used for. For example, *A indicates a first class carriage. *B indicates a second class carriage, this is the most common. *AB indicates a carriage with both first class and second class seating. *C indicates some sort of "special" carriage, such as one with a playing room for families with children. *F indicates a luggage carriage. *R indicates a restaurant carriage. *WL indicates a sleeping carriage. A B5 carriage is thus the "typical" second-class carriage in the Class 5 series, while an A5 carriage is a first class version of it. Norwegian State Railways
Vygruppen, branded as Vy, is a government-owned railway company which operates most passenger train services and many bus services in Norway. The company is owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport. Its sub-brands include Vy Buss coach services, CargoNet freight trains and the Swedish train transport company Tågkompaniet. In 2009, NSB carried 52 million train passengers and 104 million bus passengers. On 24 April 2019, passenger train and bus services were rebranded as Vy. The company was established as the Norwegian State Railways (1883–1996). Go-Ahead Norge
Go-Ahead Norge is a railway operator in Norway that commenced operations in December 2019. It is a subsidiary of the Go-Ahead Group. The branding used is Go-Ahead Nordic. NSB Night Train
Night trains of Norway (Norwegian: Nattog) are night sleeping car services provided by three different operators on four routes; Vy on Oslo - Bergen (Bergen Line), Go-Ahead Norge on Oslo - Stavanger (Sørland Line), and SJ Norge on Oslo - Trondheim (Dovre Line) and Trondheim - Bodø (the Nordland Line). All services are provided using WLAB-2 sleeping cars. El 18 locomotives with Class 7 cars are used on the Bergen and Sørland Lines, El 18 and Class 5 cars on the Dovre Line, while the service on the Nordland Line is provided using Di 4 engines with Class 5 cars. NSB Class 73
NSB Class 73 ( no, NSB-type 73) is a class of 22 electric multiple units built by Adtranz for the Norwegian State Railways. The four-car trains were modifications of Class 71, which was again based on the Swedish X2. The A-series consists of 16 intercity trains; they were delivered in 1999 and 2000 and are used on the Bergen, Dovre and Sørland Lines. The intercity service was branded as Signatur until 2003. The B-series consists of six regional trains delivered in 2002 and used on the Østfold Line. The regional trains were originally part of the Agenda concept. Sørland Line
Sørland is a Seaside resort, fishing village and the administrative centre of Værøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the southern side of the island of Værøya. The village is the main population center of the island, and it is the location of Værøy Church, Værøy Heliport, and Værøy Lighthouse. Dovre Line
The Dovre Line ( no, Dovrebanen) is a Norwegian railway line with three slightly different lines which all lead to the historic city of Trondheim.
