Norway In The Eurovision Song Contest 1999
Norway participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with the song "Living My Life Without You" written and performed by Stig Andre van Eijk under the artistic name Van Eijk. The Norwegian broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) organised the national final ''Melodi Grand Prix 1999'' in order to select the Norwegian entry for the 1999 contest in Jerusalem, Israel. Eight entries competed in a show that took place on 27 February 1999 and the winner, "Living My Life Without You" performed by Van Eijk, was determined by the votes from a five-member jury panel and a regional televote. Geir Langslet
Geir Langslet (born 9 October 1956 in Horten, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz pianist and band leader raised in Fredrikstad. Career Langslet is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. He was a member of the band LAVA for 20 years, and participated in numerous recordings and tours in the 1980s and 1990s. He has been orchestra conductor for NRK for several years, including for Melodi Grand Prix five times, from 1995 to 1999. He had conducted the Norwegian entries in the Eurovision Song Contest three times in 1995, 1997 and 1998. He has also been band leader for "The show must go on", which is a Queen tribute concert show with Åge Sten Nilsen. Denmark participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with the song "This Time I Mean It" written by Ebbe Ravn. The song was performed by Trine Jepsen and Michael Teschl. Anita Skorgan (born 13 November 1958) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter. She represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest in (14th), (11th) and with Jan Teigen in (12th). The Norwegian Theatre Academy is a department of the Østfold University College and is located in Fredrikstad, approximately 80 km from Oslo. Jorun Irene Erdal (born 14 May 1963 in Oslo) is a Norwegian singer and musical theatre artist. Her parents are from Oppstryn in Stryn, in Sogn og Fjordane county, and she has also lived there since age 12. She was raised on Snarøya in Bærum, a suburb of the city of Oslo. Erdal started her musical career touring Norway for three years with the band Ice. At the end her voice was exhausted, so she decided to take a break studying economics instead. Rolf Undsæt Løvland (born 19 April 1955) is a Norwegian composer, lyricist, arranger, and pianist. Together with Fionnuala Sherry, he formed the Celtic-Nordic group Secret Garden, in which he was the composer, producer, and keyboardist. He began composing at an early age (he formed a band at the age of nine) and grew up studying at the Kristiansand Music Conservatory, later receiving his master's degree from the Norwegian Institute of Music in Oslo.
