Northern Pride RLFC
Northern Pride Rugby League Football Club is a Queensland rugby league club founded in 2007. Based in Cairns, Queensland they compete in the QRL State competition, the Hostplus Cup, formerly the Wizard Queensland Cup. The club represents Far North Queensland. History The Northern Pride was one of two expansion teams for the 2008 season of the QRL Wizard Queensland Cup, along with the Mackay Cutters, against whom they played their debut game. Both teams are feeder clubs to the North Queensland Cowboys. Cairns was represented in the QRL State Competition from 1996–2000 by the Cairns Cyclones, but a lack of support resulted in their withdrawal. Further representation in the competition was suggested in 2006 by a Cairns-based consortium of John O’Brien, Denis Keeffe, Nigel Tillet and John Moore, this time with the support of the North Queensland Cowboys and 9 of the 11 CDRL Clubs. Canberra Raiders
The Canberra Raiders are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the national capital city of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. They have competed in Australasia's elite rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership since 1982. Brett Anderson (born 8 September 1986) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who last played for the Northern Pride in the Queensland Cup. Cairns District Rugby League
The Cairns District Rugby League was formed on 5 August 1918 and is the administrative body for the game of rugby league football in Cairns, Queensland. The CDRL runs senior, junior and women's club competitions and has its headquarters at Barlow Park. Chris Sheppard
Chris Sheppard (born 16 March 1981) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer, and former chief executive officer of Queensland Cup club Northern Pride. Sheppard played at NRL level for the North Queensland Cowboys and the St. George Illawarra Dragons before finishing his career in the Queensland Cup with Northern Pride. Ty Williams
Ty Williams (born 27 November 1980) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s. He played for the North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. North Queensland Cowboys Once scored 42 tries in a season as a centre for the Innisfail Leprechauns in the Cairns and district a-grade comp. Upon being signed with the Cowboys, he really developed his game and by the end of 2005 he was one of the NRL's best wingers. He played for the Cowboys in the 2005 NRL grand final which was lost to the Wests Tigers. Paul Green (rugby League)
Paul Gregory Green (12 September 1972 – 11 August 2022) was an Australian professional rugby league football coach, best known for taking the North Queensland Cowboys to the NRL premiership in 2015, and a professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played for Cronulla-Sutherland, North Queensland Cowboys, Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels and the Brisbane Broncos, winning the Rothmans Medal in 1995. Ben Rauter
Ben Rauter (born 6 January 1979) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer and current assistant coach of the North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League (NRL). Jason Demetriou () (born 13 January 1976) is a professional rugby league coach who is the head coach of the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL and a former professional rugby league footballer. Super League
The Super League (officially known as the Betfred Super League due to sponsorship from Betfred and legally known as Super League Europe), is the top-level of the British rugby league system. At present the league consists of twelve teams, of which eleven are from Northern England, reflecting the sport's geographic heartland within the UK, and one from southern France. The Super League began in 1996, replacing the existing First Division and, significantly, switching from a traditional winter season to a summer season. David Westley
David Westley (born 7 June 1974) is a former professional rugby league footballer and assistant coach of the Papua New Guinea . A Papua New Guinea international front-rower, he played club football for the Canberra Raiders, with whom he won the 1994 Winfield Cup Premiership before spending time with the Parramatta Eels and the Northern Eagles. Playing career Westley's junior club was the Cairns Kangaroos. He was Canberra's Rookie of the Year in 1993, and was a part of the Grand Final winning side in 1994 as they defeated Canterbury-Bankstown in the decider.
