Northeastern Huskies Men's Basketball Statistical Leaders
The Northeastern Huskies men's basketball statistical leaders are individual statistical leaders of the Northeastern Huskies men's basketball program in various categories, including points, three-pointers, assists, blocks, rebounds, and steals. Within those areas, the lists identify single-game, single-season, and career leaders. The Huskies represent Northeastern University in the NCAA's Colonial Athletic Association. Northeastern began competing in intercollegiate basketball in 1920. However, the school's record book does not generally list records from before the 1950s, as records from before this period are often incomplete and inconsistent. Since scoring was much lower in this era, and teams played much fewer games during a typical season, it is likely that few or no players from this era would appear on these lists anyway. Perry Moss (basketball)
Perry Victor Moss (born November 11, 1958) is an American former National Basketball Association (NBA) basketball player. Moss played basketball at Northeastern University under coach Jim Calhoun, where he averaged 15.2 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game in four seasons there. In his senior season, Moss was named the America East Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year. Moss graduated as the school’s second-leading career scorer with 1722 points and a 15.2 average in 113 games. He was considered the most explosive guard in New England and one of the most athletic players in the nation. In 1982 he went head to head with future NBA All-Star Dominique Wilkins and the Georgia Bulldogs in the first round of the Gotten State Classic. 2009–10 Northeastern Huskies Men's Basketball Team
The 2009–10 Northeastern Huskies men's basketball team represented Northeastern University during the 2009–10 college basketball season. This was Bill Coen's fourth season as head coach at Northeastern. The Huskies competed in the Colonial Athletic Association and play their home games at Matthews Arena. They finished the season 20–13, 14–4 in CAA play to finish in second place. They lost in the semifinals of the 2010 CAA men's basketball tournament to William & Mary and were invited to play in the 2010 National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to Connecticut. Preseason In the CAA preseason polls, released October 20 in Washington, DC, Northeastern was predicted to finish second in the CAA. Matthew Lawrence Janning (born June 22, 1988) is an American-born naturalized Georgian professional basketball player for Kawasaki Brave Thunders of the B.League. He is a tall shooting guard that played college basketball for Northeastern University. High school career A combo guard, Janning attended Watertown-Mayer High School, where he averaged a Metro-high 31.8 points per game and 8.4 rebounds, earning All-Conference honors three times, a two-time All-Area award and was a two-time team MVP. College career After high school, Janning played college basketball with the Northeastern University Huskies. He was proclaimed as one of Northeastern University's most prolific scorers of the program after ending as the program's fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,836 points. 1980–81 Northeastern Huskies Men's Basketball Team
The 1980–81 Northeastern Huskies men's basketball team represented Northeastern University during the 1980–81 college basketball season. Led by head coach Jim Calhoun, the Huskies competed in the ECAC North Conference and played their home games at Matthews Arena. They finished the season 24–6 overall with a 6–0 mark in ECAC North play to win the regular season conference title. They followed the regular season by winning the ECAC North Conference tournament to earn a bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 11 seed in the West region. After upsetting Fresno State in the opening round, the Huskies were defeated in the second round by No. 3 seed Utah, 94–69.
