Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The Northeast Conference men's basketball tournament is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the Northeast Conference (NEC). It has been held every year since the NEC was established in the 1981–82 season. The tournament is an eight-team single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The bracket is reseeded after the quarterfinals, with the highest remaining seed playing the lowest remaining seed in the semifinals. The tournament winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship, NCAA basketball tournament. Robert Morris, which left the NEC in 2020 for the Horizon League, is the program that has won the most NEC Tournament Championships (9), followed by current NEC members LIU (6) and Fairleigh Dickinson (6) as well as Mount St. Mary's (also 6), which left the NEC in 2022 for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Basketball

1984–85 Fairleigh Dickinson Knights Men's Basketball Team
The 1984–85 Fairleigh Dickinson Knights men's basketball team represented Fairleigh Dickinson University during the 1984–85 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by second-year head coach Tom Green. The Knights played their home games at the FDU Gym in Hackensack, New Jersey as members of the ECAC Metro Conference. The Knights compiled a 21–10 record and went 10–4 in ECAC Metro play to finish in second place. They defeated Robert Morris, Long Island, and Loyola (MD) to capture the ECAC Metro tournament championship as the 2-seed. By winning the ECAC Metro tournament, the Knights received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 16 seed in the Southeast region. Poughkeepsie ( ), officially the City of Poughkeepsie, separate from the Town of Poughkeepsie around it) is a city in the U.S. state of New York. It is the county seat of Dutchess County, with a 2020 census population of 31,577. McCann Field House
McCann Arena is a 3,200-seat multi-purpose arena in Poughkeepsie, New York, United States. It was built in 1977 and is home to the Marist College Red Foxes men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball teams. The arena's namesake is James J. McCann. McCann was born in Poughkeepsie in 1880, and operated, along with his family, the McCann Feed and Grain Store on Main Street. McCann did well in the stock market and used the assets to establish the McCann Foundation in 1967, two years before his death, which began awarding money in 1969 for "progressive human welfare work." A maple floor was originally donated by former National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Rik Smits for use by his alma mater. Carey Scurry
Carey Scurry (born December 4, 1962) is an American professional basketball player. A forward from Long Island University, Scurry played three seasons (1985–1988) in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Utah Jazz and New York Knicks. He averaged 4.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game over the course of his NBA career. Scurry also played in Greece, Spain, and Brazil. In January 2006, Scurry was named to the Northeast Conference 25th Anniversary Men's Basketball Team. Carey is the older brother of Moses Scurry, who played on the 1990 UNLV team that won the NCAA championship. The 1983–84 Long Island Blackbirds men's basketball team represented Long Island University during the 1983–84 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Blackbirds, led by head coach Paul Lizzo, played their home games at the Schwartz Athletic Center and were members of the ECAC Metro Conference.
