North Of The Rio Grande (1937 Film)
''North of the Rio Grande'' is a 1937 American Western film directed by Nate Watt and written by Joseph O'Donnell. The film stars William Boyd, George "Gabby" Hayes, Russell Hayden, Morris Ankrum, Bernadene Hayes and Jack Rutherford. The film was released on June 25, 1937, by Paramount Pictures. Plot Hopalong Cassidy's Brother, Buddy, is shot in the back by the Deputy Sheriff Plunkett. His friend Lucky tries to testify against Plunkett but is thwarted by the crooked coroner Stoneham. Lucky tells Buddy's wife, Mary, that he's dead...then tells her he's going to tell Hopalong Cassidy. Hoppy plans to enter town anonymously as an outlaw and work from that premise. Hoppy arrives posing as an outlaw to avenge his brother's killing by Plunkett. After robbing a train and killing Plunkett, he gets to meet the boss known as the Lone Wolf and lead his next job. Bernadene Hayes
Bernadene Hayes (March 15, 1912 – August 29, 1987) was an American film and television actress. Early years Hayes was born at 3855 Lindell Boulevard in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Hayes. She had three brothers and three sisters. She began performing in amateur productions when she was 9 years old. She graduated from Yeatman High School and attended Washington University for one semester. Career Hayes gained acting experience on stage at the Pasadena Playhouse and in Little Theatre productions. Hayes was a radio performer in her hometown of Chicago, then she went into movies, beginning with ''Great Guy'', a 1936 crime drama starring James Cagney. She appeared in a number of movies, including portraying the sassy saloon girl Faro Annie in ''North of the Rio Grande''. She also was in the musical comedy '' Idiot's Delight'' in 1939. Hopalong Cassidy Films
From 1935 to 1948, 66 American Western films were produced featuring the character Hopalong Cassidy, played in all the films by actor William Boyd. The films were at the time collectively known as "Hoppies". In the films, Hopalong, or "Hoppy", and his white horse, Topper, travel through the Old West while dispensing justice, usually with two companions: one young and trouble-prone with a weakness for damsels in distress, the other older, comically awkward and outspoken. The juvenile lead was successively played by James Ellison, Russell Hayden, George Reeves, Rand Brooks, and Jimmy Rogers. George Hayes (later to become known as "Gabby" Hayes) originally played Cassidy's grizzled sidekick, Windy Halliday. Tuolumne County (), officially the County of Tuolumne, is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 55,620. The county seat and only incorporated city is Sonora. Tuolumne County comprises the Sonora, CA Micropolitan Statistical Area. The county is in the Sierra Nevada region. Al Ferguson
Al Ferguson (19 April 1888 – 4 December 1971) was an Irish-born American film actor. Born in County Wexford, Ireland, he appeared in nearly 300 films between 1912 and 1956. Billed as Smoke Ferguson, by 1912 he was making Westerns for Selig Polyscope Company. In the 1920s he was the star, producer, and director for several low-budget Western films. He also appeared in some television Westerns in the 1950s. Ferguson died in Burbank, California. He is interred at Glendale's Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
