North Of Hudson Bay
''North of Hudson Bay'' is a 1923 American silent action film directed by John Ford starring Tom Mix and Kathleen Key. It was released as ''North of the Yukon'' in Great Britain. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Peter Dane is assassinated at the Hudson's Bay trading post. His brother Michael comes down the river by steamboat and arrives at the post. After saving her hat by jumping into the water to retrieve it, he falls in love with Estelle McDonald. When he is suspected of murder, Michael is cast out into the wilderness with Angus McKenzie, the accused murderer of Michael's brother. They are joined by Estelle, who is fleeing from the pursuit of an unwelcome suitor and his band. After a terrific fight, the lovers escape through the rapids in a canoe. John Ford
John Martin Feeney (February 1, 1894 – August 31, 1973), known professionally as John Ford, was an American film director and naval officer. He is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential filmmakers of his generation. He was the recipient of six Academy Awards including a record four wins for Best Director. Ford made frequent use of location shooting and wide shots, in which his characters were framed against a vast, harsh, and rugged natural terrain. In a career of more than 50 years, Ford directed more than 140 films (although most of his silent films are now lost). Will Walling
William Walling (June 2, 1872 – March 5, 1932) was an American actor of the silent era. He appeared in 60 films between 1921 and 1932. He is known for his role as the railroad president in the 1926 film '' The Great K & A Train Robbery'', which starred Tom Mix. He died in California, aged 59. He was married to actress Effie (Bond) Walling and was the father of actor and photographer Richard Walling AKA William Walling Jr. Before he acted in films, Walling traveled the United States performing with stock theater companies. Tom Mix Filmography
Tom Mix (1880–1940) was an American motion picture actor, director, and writer whose career spanned from 1910 to 1935. During this time he appeared in 270 films and established himself as the screen's most popular cowboy star. Mix's flair for showmanship set the standard for later cowboy heroes such as Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. His horse Tony also became a celebrity who received his own fan mail. Born in Pennsylvania, Mix served in the United States Army before moving to the Oklahoma Territory in 1902. Three years later, after working as a physical fitness instructor, bartender, and peace officer, he was hired as a full-time cowboy for the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch. Soon after, Mix established himself as the star attraction of the Millers' Wild West Show. In early 1910 Mix agreed to work as an actor and wrangler for the Selig Polyscope Company. Fred Kohler
Fred Kohler (April 20, 1888 – October 28, 1938) was an American actor. Career Fred Kohler was born in Kansas City, Missouri or in Dubuque, Iowa. As a teen, he began to pursue a career in vaudeville, but worked other jobs to support himself. He lost part of his right hand in a mining accident during this time. Eventually he was able to join a touring company, and worked steadily in show business for several years. His son Fred Kohler Jr. also became an actor. America's budding film industry drew a 20-something Kohler to Hollywood, where he made his start in silent films. His first role was in the 1911 short ''The Code of Honor'', and he had an uncredited role in Cecil B. DeMille's feature film ''Joan the Woman'' (1917), but a steady stream of parts did not begin until ''The Tiger's Trail'' (1919). Kohler's stern features earned him a niche playing villains.
