North Strathfield Railway Station
North Strathfield railway station is located on the Main Northern line, serving the Sydney suburb of North Strathfield. It is served by Sydney Trains T9 Northern Line services. History North Strathfield station opened on 9 June 1918 as an island platform with two faces. In 1924, a third platform was added on the western side. It is the first station on the Main Northern line after it branches from the Main Suburban line at Strathfield. Although the primary, eastern, connection between the Main Northern and Main Suburban lines is from North Strathfield and Strathfield, a secondary, western, connection exists between North Strathfield and Homebush. North Strathfield, New South Wales
North Strathfield is a suburb in the inner-west of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. North Strathfield is located 15 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Canada Bay. Strathfield and Strathfield South are separate suburbs, to the south. History The western part of this suburb was originally part of Homebush, while the eastern part was part of Concord. The area became part of the Municipality of Concord when the latter was established in 1883. The name "North Strathfield" came from the station, built in 1918. Although the station was in the western part of Concord, there was already a station further north called "Concord West", so the station took its name from neighbouring Strathfield to the south. Main North Railway Line, New South Wales
The Main North Line (also known as the Great Northern Railway) is a major railway in New South Wales, Australia. It runs through the Central Coast, Hunter and New England regions. The line was the original main line between Sydney and Brisbane, however this required a change of gauge at Wallangarra. As of 1988, the line closed progressively north of Armidale with services gradually withdrawn till 2004, with the main route between Sydney and Brisbane now the North Coast line. Hornsby railway station is located at the junction of the Main Northern and North Shore lines, serving the Sydney suburb of Hornsby. It is served by Sydney Trains T1 North Shore Line and T9 Northern Line services and NSW TrainLink Intercity and regional services. History The station opened on 17 September 1886 as Hornsby, but was renamed Hornsby Junction on 1 November 1894. This was due to the construction of Normanhurst station to the south, which was initially named Hornsby as it was located in what was the more densely populated area of Hornsby at the time. North Sydney Railway Station
North Sydney railway station is located on the North Shore line, serving the Sydney suburb of North Sydney. It is served by Sydney Trains T1 North Shore Line and T9 Northern Line services. History North Sydney station opened on 20 March 1932 at the same time as the North Shore line over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Prior to the bridge's opening, North Shore line trains had diverged from the current line at Waverton to the original Milsons Point station at Lavender Bay. Sydney Metro West is a rapid transit project under construction in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, involving the construction of a rail line linking the Sydney City Centre (CBD) with Westmead in the outer western suburbs of Greater Sydney.
