Cecil Brockman
Cecil Antonio Brockman (born September 18, 1984) is an American politician from North Carolina. He was first elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2014. A member of the Democratic party, he has represented the 60th district (including constituents in southwestern Guilford County, including all of Jamestown and Pleasant Garden and portions of Greensboro and High Point) since 2015. Personal life Brockman is a native of High Point, North Carolina. He earned a degree in political science from UNC-Charlotte. Before running for office, he worked on several North Carolina political campaigns. He is openly bisexual. North Carolina House Of Representatives
The North Carolina House of Representatives is one of the two houses of the North Carolina General Assembly. The House is a 120-member body led by a Speaker of the House, who holds powers similar to those of the President pro-tem in the North Carolina Senate. The qualifications to be a member of the House are found in the state Constitution: "Each Representative, at the time of his election, shall be a qualified voter of the State, and shall have resided in the district for which he is chosen for one year immediately preceding his election." Elsewhere, the constitution specifies that qualified voters that are 21 are eligible for candidacy except if otherwise disqualified by the constitution, and that no elected officials may deny the existence of God, although the latter provision is no longer enforced, as it would be illegal to do so. Earl Jones (born July 20, 1949) was a Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's 60th House district. First elected in November 2002, he took office in January 2003. In 2010, he was defeated in the Democratic primary by Marcus Brandon. His term ended in January 2011.
