The monarchy had been in existence since at least 68 AD exce ... who reigned between 1941 and 1955 and again from 1993 to 2004. Sihanouk was also known as a filmmaker. He often simultaneously produced, directed and wrote the scripts of his films. He also acted in a few of his own films, and produced a total of 50 films throughout his lifetime. Norodom Sihanouk (; km, នរោត្តម សីហនុ, ; 31 October 192215 October 2012) was a Cambodian statesman, Sangkum and FUNCINPEC politician, Norodom Sihanouk filmography, film director, and composer who led Cambodia in various capacities throughout his long career, most often as both Monarchy of Cambodia, King and Prime Minister of Cambodia. In Cambodia, he is known as Samdech Euv ( km, សម្តេចឪ, link=no, ; meaning "King Father"). The monarchy of Cambodia is the head of state of the Cambodia, Kingdom of Cambodia. In the contemporary period, the King's power has been limited to that of a symbolic figurehead. The monarchy had been in existence since at least 68 AD except during its abolition from 1970 to 1993. Since 1993, the King of Cambodia has been an elected monarch, making Cambodia one of the few elective monarchy, elective monarchies of the world. The king is elected for life by the Royal Council of the Throne, which consists of several senior political and religious figures. Candidates are chosen from among male descendants of King Ang Duong who are at least 30 years old, from the two royal houses of Cambodia (the House of Norodom and the House of Sisowath). It stars Nhiek Tioulong, Saksi Sbong, Princess Norodom Buppha Devi, and Prince Sisowath Chivan Monirak. ''Apsara'' is Sihanouk's first feature-length film, as well as his first film in colour. ''My Village at Sunset '' is a 1992 Cambodian romantic drama film directed by Norodom Sihanouk. Plot After the 1991 peace agreements, ''Sieha'', a doctor, returns from Paris, France to volunteer his services at a clinic in Siem Reap.
