NordLink
NordLink is a subsea 1,400 megawatt (MW) HVDC power cable between Norway and Germany, opened in May 2021. The over long cable operates at a voltage of 500 kV DC. The cable enables Deutsche Bahn to buy the full production from Mågeli kraftverk in Ullensvang, thereby helping the German railways to become climate-neutral by 2040. Construction It is estimated to cost €1.5–2 billion, which was financed in 2015 when Statnett decided to realize the project. The interconnector was installed between a new substation at Ertsmyra (near Tonstad) in Norway and Wilster substation in Schleswig-Holstein in Germany. The connection was expected to be completed in 2020; the opening ceremony took place on 27 May 2021. HVDC Norway–UK
The North Sea Link is a 1,400MW high-voltage direct current submarine power cable between Norway and the United Kingdom. At it is the longest subsea interconnector in the world. The cable became operational on 1 October 2021. Route The cable runs from Ulla-Førre#Kvilldal Hydroelectric Power Station, Kvilldal, Suldal, in Norway, to Cambois near Blyth, Northumberland, Blyth in England. The converter station is located near to the cable landfall in East Sleekburn and is connected to the National Grid (Great Britain), National Grid at the Blyth substation. Büsum
Büsum () is a fishing and tourist town in the district of Dithmarschen, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the North Sea coast, approx. 18 km southwest of Heide. Wilster
Wilster () is a town in Steinburg district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. History Wilster was granted town rights under Lübeck law in 1282, and thereby counts itself among Schleswig-Holstein's oldest towns. Wilster forms the centre of the Wilstermarsch, a major cattle raising area in Germany. On 1 July 2005, the town administration and the ''Amt'' of Wilstermarsch merged into one authority. NorGer
NorGer was one of two planned electricity cables between Germany and Norway. The other proposed project was NordLink, which Statnett decided to proceed with in 2015, and NorGer was cancelled. Description NorGer interconnector will start in Tonstad in Norway. From Tonstad overhead powerline runs to the Flekkefjord area. From Flekkefjord a long high voltage direct current submarine cable will run through the North Sea to Mooriem in Lower Saxony, Germany. It will be laid on the Norwegian, German and Danish Continental Shelf. The precise cable route is decided from a thorough mapping of the sea-bed along the prospective cable route. NorNed is a long high-voltage direct current submarine power cable between Feda in Norway and the seaport of Eemshaven in the Netherlands, which interconnects both countries' electrical grids. It was once the longest submarine power cable in the world. Budgeted at €550 million, and completed at a cost of €600m, the NorNed cable is a HVDC#Bipolar, bipolar HVDC link with a voltage of ±450 kV and a capacity of 700 MW. Tonstad
Tonstad is the administrative centre of the municipality of Sirdal in Agder county, Norway. The village is located at the northern end of the lake Sirdalsvatnet in the Sirdalen valley. The village has a population (2015) of 874, giving the village a population density of . Tonstad Hydroelectric Power Station and the Tonstad ski center are both located in and around this village.
