Nong Chok District
Nong Chok ( th, หนองจอก, ) is one of the Districts of Bangkok, 50 districts (''khet'') of Bangkok, Thailand. It is bounded by other districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Lam Luk Ka of Pathum Thani province, Amphoe Bang Nam Priao and Amphoe Mueang Chachoengsao of Chachoengsao province, Lat Krabang, Min Buri and Khlong Sam Wa of Bangkok. It is the biggest (considered one in seven of all Bangkok) and the most sparsely populated district of Bangkok. History The district was established as an amphoe in 1897 during the reign of King Chulalongkorn. The original settlers were Muslims relocated from southern Thailand. In 1902, it became an amphoe of the newly setup Min Buri#History, Min Buri province. Due to economic hardship during 1930-31, Min Buri Province was disbanded in 1931 and Nong Chok was transferred to Chachoengsao Province. However the administration was moved under Bangkok the next year due to inconvenience of travel between Nong Chok and Chachoengsao. , about ... Khlong Sam Wa
Khlong Sam Wa ( th, คลองสามวา, ) is one of the 50 districts (''khet'') of Bangkok, Thailand. It is bounded by other districts (from north clockwise): Lam Luk Ka district of Pathum Thani province, Nong Chok, Min Buri, Khan Na Yao, Bang Khen, and Sai Mai of Bangkok. History Khlong Sam Wa was established as a district on 21 November 1997 by splitting from Min Buri. Khlong Sam Wa was the name of an amphoe (district) in Min Buri and hence the name is used as the district name. In 1947 when the area was still rural, the farming community of Bang Chan was chosen as a centre for Thai studies. Its name "Khlong Sam Wa" literally translates as a ''khlong'' (canal) with a width of three '' wa'' (5.943 m). Administration The district is divided into five sub-districts (''khwaeng''). ''Pistia'' is a genus of aquatic plants in the arum family, Araceae. It is the sole genus in the tribe ''Pistieae'' which reflects its systematic isolation within the family. The single species it comprises, ''Pistia stratiotes'', is often called water cabbage, water lettuce, Nile cabbage, or shellflower. Its native distribution is uncertain but is probably pantropical; it was first discovered from the Nile near Lake Victoria in Africa.
