Noise By Numbers
Noise By Numbers is an American pop punk band featuring Dan Schafer (Screeching Weasel, the Queers, the Methadones, Sludgeworth), Jeff Dean ( The Bomb, All Eyes West, Four Star Alarm, The Story So Far, Dead Ending), Rick Uncapher (Textbook, Dan Vapid and the Cheats, Woolworthy), and Jimmy Lucido (Nightmare Air). Their sound has been described as reminiscent of Hüsker Dü, the Replacements, Dinosaur Jr., Naked Raygun and the Effigies. History The band formed in late 2008 when long-time friends Dan Schafer and Jeff Dean started writing songs together. They recruited bassist Rick Uncapher (Textbook, Woolworthy) and drummer Neil Hennessy (The Lawrence Arms, Smoking Popes) to complete the line up. Sludgeworth
Sludgeworth is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois, United States, consisting of Dan Schafer (vocals), Adam White (guitar), Dave McClean (guitar), Mike Hootenstrat (bass), and Brian Vermin (drums). The band was formed in 1989 as a side project from Screeching Weasel, a band that Dan and Brian were in. Later that year, the two decided to leave Screeching Weasel to focus full-time on Sludgeworth. The band released their first EP in 1990, followed by a full-length album in 1991. That same year, Dan Schafer joined a resurrected Screeching Weasel. Sludgeworth announced their split in late 1992. The breakup was due to musical differences between Schafer and the other members, with the former wanting to continue playing pop punk and the others wanting to not be restricted by that definition. Small Brown Bike
Small Brown Bike is a band from Marshall, Michigan, United States that started in 1996. The trademark of Small Brown Bike is their "double vocals" backed by melodies. Their sound is often identified as being similar to other post-hardcore bands, such as Avail, Hot Water Music and Dillinger Four. Throughout their existence, Small Brown Bike have toured three times with Dead Season between 1999 and 2000 and once with Thoughts of Ionesco in 1999. Hey Mercedes was an alternative rock band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois, United States, formed after the dissolution of Braid by its former members Bob Nanna, Todd Bell, and Damon Atkinson. Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Since 2001, the band has consisted of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass) and Derek Grant (drums, vocals). Founded in late 1996 by Skiba, bassist Rob Doran, and drummer Glenn Porter, Alkaline Trio released its debut single, "Sundials", in 1997. Following its release, Doran departed from the band and was replaced by Andriano. The band subsequently recorded an EP, ''For Your Lungs Only'' (1998), and its debut studio album, ''Goddamnit'' (1998). Rise Against is an American punk rock band from Chicago, formed in 1999. The group's current line-up comprises vocalist/rhythm guitarist Tim McIlrath, lead guitarist Zach Blair, bassist Joe Principe and drummer Brandon Barnes. Rooted in hardcore punk and melodic hardcore, Rise Against's music emphasizes melody, catchy hooks, an aggressive sound and playstyle, and rapid tempos. Mike Soucy
Mike Soucy (born September 8, 1971) was born in Boston, MA and grew up in Woonsocket, RI. Soucy joined The Methadones in 2002 and played with them until their official hiatus in 2011. He is currently the drummer for Airstream Futures and formerly of The Bomb and Dan Vapid and the Cheats and has also played live with Noise By Numbers. Soucy plays the same green Ludwig super classic drums that he bought back in 1992. He alternates between a Pearl Ultracast snare and CandC Drum company snares. He also uses Zildjian cymbals and Vic Firth 3A sticks. On December 18, 2018, Soucy joined band mates Dan Vapid and Simon Lamb on stage at the Black Moon Gallery, in Oak Park, IL playing tambourine. Tokyo Police Club is an indie rock band from Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. The Effigies
The Effigies were an American punk band from Chicago, Illinois, United States. The band played its first show in 1980 and was active initially for approximately a decade, undergoing multiple personnel changes with frontman John Kezdy the only constant, before disbanding in 1990. The band released 5 albums and several EPs, most on the record label they founded in 1981, Ruthless Records, which was distributed by Enigma. Later albums were on the Fever Records and Roadkill Records labels. They toured the U.S. and Canada and played notable venues, including CBGB, Maxwell's, First Avenue (nightclub), Mabuhay Gardens, Paycheck's (Detroit), Exit (Chicago) and The Rathskeller, among others. Naked Raygun
Naked Raygun was one of the first, one of the longest running, and one of the most recognized Chicago punk bands. They are considered by many to be the most important band in the history of Chicago punk rock and credited with creating “the Chicago Sound.” Raygun was active (in various lineups) from 1980 to 1992, along with reunion shows in 1997. In late 2006 Raygun reformed to play Riot Fest and is still active today. Over the years Naked Raygun has 6 studio full length releases, multiple EPs and singles, and a DVD.
