King Baggot
William King Baggot (November 7, 1879 – July 11, 1948) was an American actor, film director and screenwriter. He was an internationally famous movie star of the silent film era. The first individually publicized leading man in America, Baggot was referred to as "King of the Movies," "The Most Photographed Man in the World" and "The Man Whose Face Is As Familiar As The Man In The Moon." Baggot appeared in over 300 motion pictures from 1909 to 1947; wrote 18 screenplays; and directed 45 movies from 1912 to 1928, including '' The Lie'' (1912), '' Raffles, the Amateur Cracksman'' (1925) and ''The House of Scandal'' (1928). He also directed William S. Hart in his most famous western, ''Tumbleweeds'' (1925). Lucretia Harris
Lucretia Harris, also known as Lucretia Williams and Lucretia B. H. Rogers, (1873 or 1874 - July 27, 1923) was an actress in the United States. An African American, she had supporting roles during the silent film era. She featured in ''The Adventures and Emotions of Edgar Pomeroy'' series of comedy shorts from 1920 until 1921. Her roles included portraying a mammy in multiple films, a cook, and a maid in the ''Edgar'' series. She was from Alabama. She is buried in the Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery in Los Angeles. Lydia Yeamans Titus (12 December 1857 – 30 December 1929) was an Australian-born American singer, dancer, comedienne, and actress who had a lengthy career in vaudeville and cinema. She was remembered on stage for her ''Baby-Talk'' act and a popular rendition of the English ballad, ''Sally in Our Alley''. In appreciation, King Edward VII once presented Titus a gold bar pin with the opening notes of ''Sally in Our Alley'' etched in diamonds. In later life Titus became a pioneer in the medium of film appearing in at least 132 motion pictures between 1911 and 1930. George Kuwa
George Kuwa (born Keichii Kuwahara) was a Japanese and American Issei (Japanese immigrant) film actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 50 films between 1916 and 1931. He was the first actor to portray Charlie Chan on-screen in the 1926 film serial ''The House Without a Key''.Hanke (1989), xii. Biography According to contemporaneous reports, Kuwa was born in Hiroshima, Japan. His father was a judge and wanted George to follow suit. Kuwa moved to the U.S. around 1916 or 1917 and began a career in Hollywood. Like many Japanese actors of the era, he often played Chinese characters. He made several films in Japan as well before returning to the U.S.; he died in Los Angeles in 1931 at the age of 46.
