Herbert Blaché
Herbert Blaché (5 October 1882 – 23 October 1953), born Herbert Reginald Gaston Blaché-Bolton was a British-born American film director, producer and screenwriter, born of a French father. He directed more than 50 films between 1912 and 1929. Biography Blaché was born in London, England. His father was a French hatmaker originally from Mont-de-Marsan, while his mother was an English actress, Elizabeth Bolton. In 1907 he married filmmaking pioneer Alice Guy, head of production with the French Gaumont Film Company. Their marriage meant that Alice had to resign from her position working with Gaumont. Robert Dudley (actor)
Robert Dudley (September 13, 1869 – September 15, 1955) was a dentist turned film character actor who, in his 35-year career, appeared in more than 115 films. Career Dudley was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and was educated at Lake Forest College in Evanston, Illinois and Chicago, where he majored in oral surgery. In 1917 he appeared in his first film, '' Seven Keys to Baldpate'', and then made three other silent films through 1921. After 1922 he worked consistently, appearing in three or four films a year, and making the transition to sound films in 1929 with '' The Bellamy Trial''. Dudley often played characters with a quick temper, including jurors, shopkeepers, ticket agents, court clerks and justices of the peace, as well as an occasional farmer, hobo, or laborer. His performances in these small parts were frequently uncredited. Lillian Langdon (November 25, 1860 – February 8, 1943) was an American film actress of the silent era. She appeared in more than 80 films between 1912 and 1928. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Langdon was a descendant of Montgomery Pike, discoverer of Pike's Peak, and Jasper Crane, founder of Newark. She acted on stage before she began her career in films. In private life, she was known as Lillie H. Bolles. She died at her home in Santa Monica, California, aged 82. Wendell Phillips Smalley (August 7, 1865 – May 2, 1939) was an American silent film director and actor. Biography Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the grandson of Wendell Phillips; he was the son of George Washburn Smalley, a war correspondent, and his wife Phoebe Garnaut, adopted by Phillips. He matriculated at Balliol College, Oxford in 1886. Smalley began his career in vaudeville and acted in more than 200 films between 1910 and his death in 1939. Evelyn Campbell (sometimes known as Evelyn Murray Campbell) was an American screenwriter, writer, and actress active during Hollywood's silent era. Biography Campbell was born in Kansas to J.C. Murray (a lawyer) and Maggie Parker; early on, she recalled preferring to read books over playing with dolls while growing up in Missouri. After high school, she began working as a stenographer in St. Louis while working on her writing. She began selling her stories to East Coast magazines around 1918, and soon studios were looking to turn her stories into film scenarios. She also wrote for newspapers, including the ''Chicago Examiner'', ''The Denver Post'', the ''Dramatic Mirror'' in New York, and the ''San Francisco Dramatic and Musical Review''.
