Homemade Knives is an American Indie folk band formed by Wil Loyal, Shane Jenkins, and Christopher Carroll. Their music features layered of acoustic guitars, cello, and lead vocals. Homemade Knives has played with bands such as Magnolia Electric Company, Catfish Haven, and DeYarmond Edison. As of July 27, 2012, Homemade Knives are signed with Triple Stamp Records. Indie Folk
Indie folk is a music genre that arose in the 1990s among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music. Indie folk hybridizes the acoustic guitar melodies of traditional folk music with contemporary instrumentation. Magnolia Electric Company
Jason Andrew Molina (December 30, 1973 – March 16, 2013) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. Raised in northern Ohio, he came to prominence performing and recording as Songs: Ohia, both in solo projects and with a rotating cast of musicians in the late 1990s. Beginning in 2003, he would garner a further indie following for his releases with the band Magnolia Electric Co. Molina had a prolific career between his two musical projects and solo releases, producing a total of sixteen studio albums, eight EPs, and numerous singles. His overall discography was noted by critics for blending elements of indie rock, blues, and alternative country with his tenor vocal range. In 2009, Molina canceled a tour with Will Johnson, citing health problems. Catfish Haven is an indie soul rock band from Chicago. Their music was described by ''The A.V. Club'' writer Kyle Ryan in 2006 as "Creedence Clearwater Revival meets Nirvana". DeYarmond Edison
DeYarmond Edison is the former band of the members of Bon Iver, Megafaun, and Field Report. Guitarist and vocalist Justin Vernon went on to create Bon Iver; three members (Brad Cook: bass, guitar; Phil Cook: keyboards, banjo; Joe Westerlund: Percussion) formed the freak folk group Megafaun, and Christopher Porterfield began composing, eventually establishing Field Report.
