''No Apologies'' is an album by the Eyeliners, released on 5 April 2005 by Blackheart Records. It includes a covers of When in Rome's 1988 song " The Promise" and Eddie and the Hot Rods' 1977 song "Do Anything You Wanna Do". Joan Jett and Kenny Laguna produced this album for the girls, and Joan guested on the track "Destroy" and made a cameo appearance in the music video. The Eyeliners
The Eyeliners are an all-woman American pop punk band from Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. History The band formed in 1995 under the name Psychodrama by three sisters, guitarist Gel, bassist Lisa, and singer Laura Baca. The three auditioned both male and female drummers, but couldn’t find one suitable for their planned style of music. Laura began experimenting with the drum set they had been using for auditions, and soon picked up the drumbeat despite never having played the instrument. About halfway through the rendition of the song, she started to sing along. The sisters stopped auditioning and Laura became both lead vocalist and drummer. The band played their first show under the name Psychodrama and released a single, "Vivid". In 1996 the sisters changed their band name to The Eyeliners while touring the west coast, as more appropriate for their musical style. When in Rome are an English synth-pop/ new wave group, which originally consisted of vocalists Clive Farrington and Andrew Mann, and keyboardist Michael Floreale. They are best known for their 1988 single " The Promise", which was their only top 40 hit on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in the US. As of July 2012, there were two bands using the When in Rome name, although the original lineup has been disbanded since 1990. History Formation Michael Floreale and Andy O'Connell were recruited by Clive Farrington to replace departed members of his Manchester-based group Beau Leisure. "The Promise" is the debut single by the British band When in Rome. It was first released in 1987 on 10 Records, as the lead single from their self-titled debut album. It was written by all three band members: Clive Farrington, Andrew Mann and Michael Floreale. The song was released in the U.S. in 1988 and reached number 11 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. It is the band's biggest commercial hit. In 2020, Farrington and Mann, in collaboration with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and Slovenia Symphonic Film Orchestra, released a 30th anniversary orchestral edition of their hit song "The Promise" on both CD and vinyl. Joan Jett (born Joan Marie Larkin, September 22, 1958) is an American singer, guitarist, record producer, and actress. Kenneth Benjamin Laguna is an American songwriter and record producer, best known for his work with Joan Jett. Biography Laguna was born in Greenwich Village, New York City, United States, and started playing piano at high school dances from the age of twelve. In the late 1960s, he worked as a songwriter and producer with Super K Productions, established at Buddah Records by producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeffry Katz, writing songs for such acts as Tony Orlando, The Ohio Express and The Lemon Pipers, often in association with writers Bo Gentry, Bobby Bloom and Ritchie Cordell.
