NiziU
NiziU ( ja, ニジュー; ko, 니쥬), stylized as NIZIU, is a Japanese girl group formed by JYP Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment Japan. The group is composed of nine members: Mako, Rio, Maya, Riku, Ayaka, Mayuka, Rima, Miihi, and Nina. NiziU was formed through the reality-survival program ''Nizi Project'' (2020) and debuted on December 2, 2020, with the release of their debut single " Step and a Step". Career 2020: Formation and debut On January 29, 2019, JYP Entertainment announced their plans of creating a Japanese girl group, under their vision " K-pop 3.0", "Globalization by Localization." Auditions for this new girl group took place in eight Japanese cities, Hawaii, and Los Angeles, for females aged between 15 and 22 years old. "Step and a Step" is a song by Japanese girl group NiziU. It is the group's debut maxi single and includes three other tracks. The song was pre-released digitally on November 25, 2020, and the CD single was released on December 2 by JYP Entertainment and Epic Records Japan. Background and release NiziU was formed through the audition program, ''Nizi Project'' by JYP Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment Japan, and is the first Japanese group to be managed by JYP. Nina Makino-Hillman (born February 27, 2005), also known professionally as , , and monomously as , is an American singer and former child actress based in Japan. She is a member of the Japanese girl group NiziU. Makino began her career as a child actress, appearing in several acting and campaign projects. After passing the first Amuse Multilingual Artists Audition held by Amuse Inc., Makino relocated to Japan and appeared in the film ''Blood Friends'' (2019). ''Nizi Project'' ( "Rainbow Project") is a 2020 Japanese reality competition show. The series is a joint project between JYP Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment Japan with the intention of creating a Japanese girl group aimed at a global audience.
