Nina Sterckx
Nina Sterckx (born 26 July 2002) is a Belgian weightlifter. She is a two-time bronze medalist at the European Weightlifting Championships and achieved 5th place representing Belgium at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. In 2019, she won the gold medal in the women's junior 49kg event at the European Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships in Bucharest, Romania. She also won the gold medal in the women's 55kg event at the 2022 Junior World Weightlifting Championships held in Heraklion, Greece. Career She won the silver medal in the under-15 girls 48kg event at the 2017 European Youth Weightlifting Championships held in Pristina, Kosovo. She won the bronze medal in the under-17 girls 53kg event at the 2018 European Youth Weightlifting Championships held in San Donato Milanese, Italy. The World Weightlifting Championships is an event organised by International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The first competition, held in March 1891, was won by Edward Lawrence Levy of England. 2022 World Weightlifting Championships
The 2022 World Weightlifting Championships was a weightlifting competition held in Bogotá, Colombia in December 2022. It was scheduled to be held in Chongqing, China but this changed in March 2022 as a result of COVID-19 measures in China. The new location was announced in April 2022. It was the first time Colombia hosted the World Weightlifting Championships. The event served as a qualification event for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Weightlifters from Russia and Belarus did not compete after a ban as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Weightlifting At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Qualification
This article details the qualifying phase for weightlifting at the 2020 Summer Olympics . The competition at these Games includes 196 athletes. Each competing nation is allowed to enter a maximum of 8 competitors, 4 men and 4 women. The IWF released its qualification list on 28 June 2021. Qualification system For each weight class, 14 weightlifters qualify. These places are allocated as follows: * Eight from the IWF ranking list. * Five continental places from that ranking list, with one per continent limited to NOCs without other qualified athletes. * One from either the host nation (six weight classes) or Tripartite Commission invitation (eight weight classes).
