Nina Lisandrello is an American actress, known for her role as Tess Vargas in the television series ''Beauty & the Beast (2012 TV series), Beauty & The Beast''. She has guest starred in ''Law & Order (season 20), Law & Order'', ''Conviction (2006 TV series), Conviction'', ''Nurse Jackie'', and ''FBI (TV series), FBI''. Early life Lisandrello was born in Encino, Los Angeles, Encino, a district of Los Angeles, California. At the age of 10 years she did a TV commercial for Levi's directed by David Fincher. This commercial is what later helped her to become a SAG Foundation member. Lisandrello's mother is the singer and songwriter Helena Springs. Career She first appeared on TV screens playing Serena Mallory in the short lived TV series ''Conviction (2006 TV series), Conviction''. She went on to guest star in some other TV shows such as ''Law & Order (season 20), Law & Order'', ''Mercy (TV series), Mercy'', ''Nurse Jackie'', and a made-for-TV movie called ''Washingtonienne''. Encino (Spanish for "oak") is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, California. History In 1769, the Spanish Portolá expedition, first Europeans to see inland areas of California, traveled north through Sepulveda Pass into the San Fernando Valley on August 5 and stayed two nights at a native village near what is now Los Encinos State Historic Park. Fray Juan Crespi, a Franciscan missionary traveling with the expedition, named the valley "El Valle de Santa Catalina de Bolonia de Los Encinos" (The Valley of St. Catherine of Bologna of the Holm Oaks). All of Crespi's name was later dropped except "Encino". Rancho Los Encinos (''Ranch of Holm Oaks'') was established in 1845 when a large parcel of former Mission San Fernando land was granted to three Mission Indians by governor Pio Pico.
