Nikola Ivanov
Nikola Ivanov ( bg, Никола Иванов) (2 March 1861, Kalofer – 10 September 1940, Sofia) was a Bulgarian general and a minister of defence of the Kingdom of Bulgaria. One of the first graduate of the General Staff Military Academy of St Petersburg, he fought as a volunteer during the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878). Ivanov then became chief of the Headquarters of the Bulgarian Army between 10 May 1894 and 29 November 1896 then minister of war between 29 November 1896 and 30 January 1899. During the First Balkan War, Ivanov lead the Bulgarian Second Army throughout the successful Siege of Adrianople. On 4 July his army was defeated at the Battle of Kilkis–Lachanas during the Second Balkan War, a month later his troops succeeded in halting the oncoming Greece in the Balkan Wars, Greek army at the Battle of Kresna Gorge as the catastrophic Second Balkan War came to an end. Nikolai Ivanov (general)
Nikolai Iudovich Ivanov (russian: Никола́й Иу́дович Ива́нов, tr. ; 1851 – 27 January 1919) was a Russian artillery general in the Imperial Russian Army. Family Ivanov's family origin was debatable, some sources say that Ivanov came from a noble family originated from the Kaluga Governorate, but other sources told that he was the son of a cantonist. Despite all of these sources about his family, the true identity of where his family originated from is still a mystery. Early life Ivanov was born on 22 July 1851 (based on the old calendar at use in the Russian Empire at that time), in Mosalsk in the Kaluga Governorate. He attended the 2nd Cadet Corps and the Pavlovsky Cadet Corps in St. Petersburg at an early age, and graduated from the Mikhailovsky Artillery School in 1869, and served in the 3rd Grenadier Guards and artillery brigades. Nikolai V. Ivanov (russian: Николай Владимирович Иванов, born 1954) is a Russian mathematician who works on topology, geometry and group theory (particularly, modular Teichmüller groups). He is a professor at Michigan State University. He obtained his Ph.D. under the guidance of Vladimir Abramovich Rokhlin in 1980 at the Steklov Mathematical Institute. According to Google Scholar, on 5 July 2020, Ivanov's works had received 2,376 citations and his h-index was 22. He is a fellow of the American Mathematical Society since 2012. He is the author of the 1992 book ''Subgroups of Teichmüller Modular Groups''. Among his contributions to mathematics are his classification of subgroups of surface mapping class groups, and the establishment that surface mapping class groups satisfy the Tits alternative.
