Nikki Woodcroft
Nikki Woodcroft (born 30 January 1996) is a Canadian women's field hockey player. Playing career Senior National Team Woodcroft first represented Canada in 2016, in a test series against the United States. Her first major tournament with the team was the 2017 Pan American Cup, where the team finished fourth. In 2018, Woodcroft was named in the Canada team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. The team finished fifth in the tournament. Junior National Team Woodcroft first represented the junior national team in 2011, at just 15 years old. She continued to represent the team until 2016, at the Junior Pan American Cup. Canada Women's National Field Hockey Team
The Canada women's national field hockey team participates in international field hockey competitions. In 1991, the Canadian men's and women's programs united under the national umbrella of Field Hockey Canada to share funding and infrastructure. The women's team made its first international appearance at the 1978 Women's Hockey World Cup in Madrid, Spain, finishing in fifth place. They were the runner-up at the 1983 Women's Hockey World Cup and the bronze medalists at the 1986 Women's Hockey World Cup. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. United States Women's National Field Hockey Team
The United States women's national field hockey team, represents the United States in international field hockey. The team is currently coached by Anthony Farry. It made its first international appearance in 1920 when a touring team visited England, coached by Constance M.K. Applebee. The team made several international appearances in the early 20th century, leading to the United States hosting the eighth International Federation of Women's Hockey Associations Tournament in 1963. Once the IFWHA merged with its counterpart on the men's side, the United States' first appearance at an FIH-sanctioned tournament was the 1983 Women's Hockey World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where the Americans ended up in sixth place. 2017 Women's Pan American Cup
The 2017 Women's Pan American Cup was the fifth edition of the Women's Pan American Cup, the quadrennial international women's field hockey championship of the Americas organised by the Pan American Hockey Federation. It was held between 5 and 13 August 2017 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States, simultaneously with the men's tournament. The tournament doubled as the qualifier for two major international tournaments: the winner qualified directly to the 2018 World Cup, and the two teams not qualifying through the 2018 South American Games or the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games qualified for the 2019 Pan American Games to be held in Lima, Peru. The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018. 2016 Women's Pan-Am Junior Championship
The 2016 Women's Junior Pan-Am Championship was the 8th edition of the Women's Pan American Junior Championship. It was held from 31 March to 9 April 2016 in Tacarigua, Trinidad and Tobago. The tournament served as a qualifier for the 2016 Women's Hockey Junior World Cup, held in Santiago, Chile in November/December 2016. Amanda Woodcroft
Amanda Zarine Woodcroft (born 9 October 1993) is an indoor and field hockey player from Canada. Personal life Amanda Woodcroft was born in Kitchener, Ontario, and grew up in the neighbouring city of Waterloo. Woodcroft has a younger sister, Nicole, who also represents Canada in field hockey. Career Indoor hockey In 2010, Woodcroft made her debut for the Canadian indoor team at the Indoor Pan American Cup in Barquisimeto. She represented the team again in 2014 in a number of tournaments.
