Night Work (1930 Film)
''Night Work'' is a 1930 American comedy film starring Eddie Quillan, Sally Star, and Frances Upton. The film was directed by Russell Mack. Plot Willie Musher is an assistant window dresser for a department store who is the unlucky chump who is fired each time a disgruntled customer complains to the manager, Mr. Reisman. Willie is given ten dollars by the husband of one of the complainers as a tip for lying so well, and he leaves the store to deposit the money in his bank account. Outside in the street there is a drive to raise funds for a local orphanage, and Willie meets a pretty nurse named Mary Robbins, and a cute orphan boy named Oscar. Willie accidentally agrees to pledge weekly support of ten dollars, which is more than he can afford. Russell Mack
Russell Mack (November 11, 1892 – June 1, 1972) was an American vaudeville performer in the 1910s and a stage actor, film director, and producer in the 1920s and 1930s. Vaudeville and stage career Born Edward Russell Mahoney in Oneonta, New York, Mack was raised in Providence, Rhode Island, where he worked first as a reporter and then as a theatre manager. In 1911 he formed a vaudeville duo with pianist Blanche Vincent, and they toured as “Mack and Vincent” with some success on the Orpheum circuit, in addition to managing cabarets in New York City. Vincent was often identified as Mack's wife, but there is no confirmation that they actually married. The duo disbanded in 1919 and Mack embarked on a stage career, with brief returns to vaudeville in 1921–22. Georgia Caine
Georgiana Caine (October 30, 1876 – April 4, 1964) was an American actress who performed both on Broadway and in more than 80 films in her 51-year career. Early career Born in San Francisco, California in 1876, the daughter of two Shakespearean actors, George Caine and the former Jennie Darragh, she travelled with them when they toured the country. Robert Edeson
Robert Edeson (June 3, 1868 – March 24, 1931) was an American film and stage actor of the silent era and a vaudeville performer. Life and career Edeson was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of manager and actor George R. Edeson. After working as treasurer of the Park Theatre in Brooklyn, he initially acted in New York in 1887 in a production of ''Fascination.'' He debuted on Broadway in ''Marriage'' (1896). His last Broadway appearance was in ''The World We Live In'' (1922). He also performed in vaudeville. Edeson received his first boost in films in 1914 when he starred in the Cecil B. DeMille directed film, '' The Call of the North'' (1914). Edeson replaced actor Rudolph Christians in Erich von Stroheim's production of ''Foolish Wives'' (1922), after Christians died of pneumonia. Robert McWade (January 25, 1872 – January 19, 1938), was an American stage and film actor. McWade was born in Buffalo, New York. He was the third actor named Robert McWade, after his father and grandfather. In 1902, McWade debuted on stage with the Murray Hill Stock Company. From 1903 to 1927, he appeared in at least 38 Broadway productions, his last being ''Devil In The Cheese'' (1926), with Bela Lugosi and Fredric March. During his almost 40-year career in motion pictures Tom Keene worked under three different names. From 1923, when he made his first picture, until 1930 he worked under his birth name George Duryea.
