Nicole Vanden Broeck
Nicole Vanden Broeck is a French-Mexican film director, writer, and producer. She is known for directing the award-winning short films ''Con El Tiempo'' (2017), ''The Little Thief'' (2019) and ''Elle'' (2020). A 2020 BAFTA Newcomer fellow, Vanden Broeck is also a 2019 recipient of the Tomorrow's Filmmakers Today Scholarship presented by HBO and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Vanden Broeck's films have screened at several Academy-qualifying festivals, including AFI Fest, Rhode Island International Film Festival, and Out on Film. Early life and education Vanden Broeck was born and raised in Cancun, Mexico. At 14, she moved to Mexico City, an upheaval she later cited as inspiration for her 2020 short film ''Elle'', recalling that, "I was fourteen and I was afraid. Out On Film
Out on Film, Georgia's gay film festival in Atlanta, was established in 1987 and is one of the oldest gay film festivals in the United States devoted to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. The festival is now held in Midtown Atlanta in late September and early October to coincide with LGBT History Month and Atlanta Pride. Additional screenings and events are held throughout the year. Out on Film is a non-profit all-gay and lesbian operated 501(c)(3) organization. Programming includes films by, for and about the LGBT community. Films Out on Film programming is based on invitations to film makers to submit films for consideration. Annual submissions by, about, or of interest to the LGBT community are accepted for consideration, including dramas, comedies, foreign films, and shorts. Joseph Novoa
Joseph Novoa (José Ramón Novoa or José R. Novoa) is a Venezuelan-Uruguayan film director and executive producer. He is married to the director and scriptwriter Elia K. Schneider and fathered the film director Joel Novoa. Biography Joseph Novoa was born in Montevideo, Uruguay on August 22, 1950. He studied architecture in Uruguay but his real path was the arts. He started his entertainment career at El Teatro Circular of Uruguay. Following his dream, he moved to Paris to study Performance Arts in the L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq. In Paris, he founded the theatre group El Circo and organized and performed different plays. He got a scholarship from the Danish Government to work with Eugenio Barba Directing Te Odin Teatret (Holstebro, Denmark). Aurora Guerrero is a writer-director from California. Early life Guerrero was born in the Mission District of San Francisco, California to Mexican immigrant parents, later growing up on the border of the cities of Richmond and El Cerrito while working at her parents' small Mexican restaurant in Berkeley. Guerrero studied both Psychology and Chicano studies at the University of California, Berkeley, completing a Bachelor of Arts. She later moved to Los Angeles to study directing at California Institute of the Arts in Santa Clarita, California earning a Master of Fine Arts. Her narrative work often examines the intersection of the working class, queer, and of color.
