Nicaraguan Women's Football Championship
The Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol Femenino (English: Women's Football National Championship) is the highest league of women's football in Nicaragua. Established in 1996, it is run by FENIFUT. Competition format The current format which was adopted in 2002 features ten teams playing a double round-robin. After those the six best placed teams advance to the playoffs. Three matches are played over two legs. The three winners and the best loser advance to the semi-finals. Those and the final are the contested over two legs too. Deportivo Walter Ferretti (women)
Club Deportivo Walter Ferretti is a Nicaraguan football team who play in the Nicaraguan Premier Division. They are based in Managua. History The club was founded in 1984 on the initiative of Walter Ferretti Fonseca. Its intention was to serve as the sporting wing of the Sandinista Police, and it initially competed in an institutional league for government ministries. Later, the team moved into the Nicaraguan league system. At that time, they competed under the name of DGPS (''Dirección General de La Polícia Sandinista''). DGPS stormed through the lower levels of the Nicaraguan league system, winning the Second Division in 1985 with an undefeated record. The away goals rule is a method of tiebreaking in association football and other sports when teams play each other twice, once at each team's home ground. Under the away goals rule, if the total goals scored by each team are equal, the team that has scored more goals " away from home" wins. This is sometimes expressed by saying that away goals "count double" in the event of a tie, though in practice the team with more away goals is simply recorded as the victor, rather than having additional or 'double' goals added to their total. The penalty shootout is a method of determining a winner in sports matches that would have otherwise been drawn or tied. The rules for penalty shootouts vary between sports and even different competitions; however, the usual form is similar to penalty shots in that a single player takes one shot on goal from a specified spot, the only defender being the goalkeeper. Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. Diriangén FC is a Nicaraguan professional association football, football club based in Diriamba which competes in Primera División de Nicaragua, Nicaraguan Premier Division (Primera Division). It is one of the oldest clubs in not only Nicaragua but also in Central America. History Founded in 1917, Diriangén has won a total of 29 domestic titles, including at least one in every decade since the 1940s.
