Niamh Ní Charra is an Irish fiddler, concertina player and singer from Killarney, Ireland. Early life At the age of four, Ní Charra started playing music. She has performed in 2500 shows touring 8 years as a soloist with Riverdance before returning to Ireland. Her first solo album, Ón Dá Thaobh/From Both Sides, was released in 2007, and was followed by a second, Súgach Sámh / Happy Out, in 2010. Both albums were well received, after which Ní Charra received awards including Mojo's Top Ten Folk Albums of 2007 and Irish World's Best Trad Music Act 2008, In 2013, Ní Charra released "Cuz", a tribute to Kerry and Chicago musician, Terry 'Cuz' Teahan. Killarney
Killarney ( ; ga, Cill Airne , meaning 'church of sloes') is a town in County Kerry, southwestern Ireland. Terence Teahan
Terence "Cuz" Teahan (1905–1989) was a notable traditional Irish musician and composer from the Sliabh Luachra district. He played concertina, accordion and fiddle and composed songs and dance tunes. Life Teahan was born in 1905 at Glountane in southern County Kerry, Ireland. His father died when he was very young. His mother was a popular singer, while his extended family contained many musicians who played at dances in the neighbourhood. His brother Patrick had some poetry published in local newspapers. Among his neighbours were eminent musicians Padraig O'Keeffe, who taught him music at Glountane School, and Johnny O'Leary. O'Keeffe's father, Seán, and sister Nora Carmody also taught him at that school. In 1928 he emigrated to the United States and settled in Chicago. The Chieftains
The Chieftains are a traditional Irish folk band formed in Dublin in 1962, by Paddy Moloney, Seán Potts and Michael Tubridy. Their sound, which is almost entirely instrumental and largely built around uilleann pipes, has become synonymous with traditional Irish music. They are regarded as having helped popularise Irish music around the world. They have won six Grammy Awards during their career and they were given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2002 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Ibon Koteron (born in Bilbao in 1967) is a Basque musician renowned as a player of the alboka. His 1996 debut release was a joint record with Kepa Junkera, entitled '' Leonen Orroak'' (''the roarings of Leon'', a homage to the great ''albokalari'' Leon Bilbao). He was educated in a Jesuit school in Bilbao where he was known for his expertise playing chess and his anarchist tendencies. He graduated in Basque philology in the University of Deusto, but he is now teaching Philosophy in IES Ategorri, Erandio. His career as musician started after he studied alboka and dultzaina in 1987-88 and became a teacher of these instruments himself. In the early 1990s, forming a duo with his brother, he started playing, often for free, as an accompanist to numerous popular acts, notably in support of the Conscientious Objection Movement, which was then waging a popular disobedience campaign against conscription and the army itself. Carlos Núñez Muñoz (born 1971) is a Spanish musician and multi-instrumentalist who plays the gaita, the traditional Galician bagpipe, Galician flute, ocarina, Irish flute, whistle and low whistle. Life and career Nuñez was born in 1971 in Vigo, Galicia. He began playing the bagpipes when he was eight years old. In his early teens, he was invited to play with the Festival Orchestra of the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany. He studied the recorder at the Royal Conservatory in Madrid, Spain and quickly gained stature as a young virtuoso.
