Nguyễn Hữu Thắng (born 1972 in Ha Tinh, Vietnam) is a Vietnamese professional football manager and former player. He was a member and captain of the Vietnam in his playing days. He went to Sông Lam Nghệ An as manager in 2005. Early life Hữu Thắng was born in 1972 in Đức Thọ, Hà Tĩnh. His family moved from Đức Thọ to live in Vinh. His parent worked at Nghệ An Print Company (his mother died). Hữu Thắng's ring finger on his right hand is amputated. Club career Sông Lam Nghệ An Hữu Thắng played for Sông Lam Nghệ An as a player. He retired from being a footballer in 2005. International career He played for the Vietnam national football team at the 1996 Tiger Cup, the 1998 Tiger Cup and the 2000 Tiger Cup, as well as the football tournament of the 1995 and 1997 SEA Games. V-League (Vietnam)
The V.League 1 (), also called LPBank V.League 1 for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional football league in Vietnam, controlled by the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF). It is contested by 14 clubs who play each other on a home and away basis. The team finishing at the top at the end of the season is crowned the champion and enters the AFC Champions League Two. The league was founded in 1980 as the All Vietnam Football Championship, with Tổng Cục Đường Sắt being the first winner. The league turned professional in the 2000–01 season, which allowed clubs to hire foreign players. Vietnamese National Football Cup (), commonly recognized and branded as the National Cup (), is a Vietnamese Association football, football competition. It is one of the most important club competitions in Vietnam. The Vietnamese Cup was first held in 1992. Ho Chi Minh City FC, Cảng Sài Gòn was the first cup winner. Format Since 2004, entry is open to all teams that competed in the V.League 1 and the V.League 2. The two teams that reach the final were exempt from the preliminary rounds of the next year's competition. The cup winners would qualify to the Qualifying playoff round of AFC Champions League Two. V.League 1 teams are not allowed to use foreign players if they play against a V.League 2 team.
