The Counties of Kenya ( sw, Kaunti za Kenya) are geographical units envisioned by the 2010 Constitution of Kenya as the new units of devolved government that replaced the previous provincial system. The establishment and executive powers of the counties is provided in Chapter Eleven of the Constitution on devolved government, the Constitution's Fourth Schedule and any other legislation passed by the Senate of Kenya concerning counties. The counties are also single-member constituencies for the election of members of parliament to the Senate of Kenya, and special women members to the National Assembly of Kenya. As of 2022, there are 47 counties whose size and boundaries are based on the 47 legally recognized regions established by the 2010 Constitution. Siaya County
Siaya County is one of the counties in the former Nyanza Province in the Western part of Kenya. It is bordered by Busia County to the north, Kakamega County and Vihiga County's to the northeast and Kisumu County to the southeast. It shares a water border with Homa Bay County which is located south of Siaya County. The total area of the county is approximately 2,496.1 km2. The county lies between latitude 0° 26' to 0° 18' north and longitude 33° 58' east and 34° 33' west. Siaya has been split up into six new districts. Under the Constitution 2010, the role of districts are still unclear as much of administrative authority is being transferred to the county. The capital is Siaya, even though the largest town is Bondo. Demographics The population in the year 2009 was 842,304. Ng'iya Girls High School
Ng'iya Girls High School is a girls' national school in Ng'iya Township, Siaya County, in Western Kenya. History and operations The school was founded in 1923 as a primary school. In 1953 it became a teacher training college (TTC). In 1962, Ng'iya Girls became a secondary school and admitted its first form one students who sat their “O” level exams in 1965. In 1971, it enrolled the first A-Level science class offering Science and Arts A-Level classes. This continued till 1989, when the A-level system was phased out. The school was identified as a Centre of Excellence in 2010, and officially promoted to a national school in 2012. In 2018, it was closed after it was damaged by students protesting the school's management.
